Event: UFC 269: Oliveira vs. Poirier
Date: December 11th, 2021
Time: Main Card: 7 P.M. PST.
Location: T-Mobile Arena, Paradise Nevada
Free UFC 269 Pick: Charles Oliveira +140 vs Dustin Poirier -170 (Bet Now!)
Dustin Poirier comes off back-to-back impressive TKO wins over “The Notorious” Conor McGregor. Now he has his sights set on the newly crowned Lightweight Champion, Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira.
However, he’ll have a tough task ahead, as Oliveira is one of the most dangerous Jiu Jitsu practitioners to ever step in the Octagon. In addition, “Do Bronx” holds multiple UFC records, from most finishes, to most submissions in UFC history.
Moreover, these two fighters combine for over 70 fights in their MMA careers, and are truly masters of the sport. With all that being said, Poirier is the much more elite boxer, and has competent enough wrestling to stay off the mat to avoid Oliveira’s submissions.
MMA Betting Prediction: Dustin Poirier – TKO
Unless this fight ends up on the mat every round, which it shouldn’t since Oliveira isn’t known for amazing takedowns. We expect Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier to outclass the current champ on the feet, on route to his first undisputed UFC Belt via TKO in the 3rd round.
Free UFC 269 Pick: Amanda Nunes -900 vs Julianna Pena +550 (Bet Now!)
The Greatest Female Fighter Of All Time, steps back into the Octagon Saturday night, but this time back at Bantamweight. Can she continue her dominant run, against one of the most dangerous Bantamweight contenders in the UFC?
Amanda Nunes began her UFC career off slow, getting knocked out by Cat Zingano in her third fight. However, since then she’s never lost, in the wake also capturing two division titles, and has held them simultaneously since December 2018.
Although, her challenger Julianna Pena, was the first woman ever to win The Ultimate Fighter. In addition, she’s only lost 2 times in the UFC, and only by champions. These fighters being Flyweight Champion, Valentina Shevchenko, and former Featherweight Champ, Germaine de Randamie.
Since Amanda’s been nothing less than perfect, we have to find some sort of potential holes to exploit, and that may be her comfortability at Featherweight.
MMA Prediction: Julianna Pena – Submission
Obviously speaking, this pick is a long shot, however all streaks do come to an end and if Amanda is going to lose, it’ll be at Bantamweight. Furthermore, Nunes has began getting comfortable at the heavier weight class, and hasn’t even defended the Bantamweight strap since December 2019.
Worth mentioning as the weight cut could end up costing her critical power, and stamina, and could be different to what we’re used to seeing in the last few years of her at Featherweight. In the off chance Nunes comes back to reality this Saturday, Julianna Pena holds all the tools to potentially shock the world.
Free UFC 269 Pick: Santiago Ponzinibbio -130 vs Geoff Neal +110 (Bet Now!)
Geoff “Handz Of Steel” Neal’s in desperation mode as he’s lost his last two fights, after an impressive 5-0 start to his UFC career. Between legal troubles, and his losses in the Octagon, Geoff need’s a major bounce back here.
Sad to say for Geoff, he’s been matched up with a complete beast, in Ponzinibbio. He’s amassed a magnificent 10-3 record since his debut in the UFC in 2013, while knocking out 5 opponents in his wake.
Moreover, Santiago hasn’t tasted defeat in 6 years, and will take a very serious Geoff Neal to dispatch him on Saturday.
MMA Prediction: Santiago Ponzinibbio – Decision
Taking this all into account, Ponzinibbio has the touch of death, and recently knocked out Gunnar Nelson, and Neil Magny. Both being elite strikers, with Santiago easily finishing them.
That being said, I don’t know if Geoff has the skill, or the wherewithal to upset Santiago Ponzinibbio in his current form.
Free UFC 269 Pick: Cody Garbrandt -145 vs Kai Kara-France +120 (Bet Now!)
Former Bantamweight Champion, Cody Garbrandt changes weight classes to Flyweight to try his luck in a different division. Regrettably, after dropping 4 of his last 5 fights, with 3 by devastating knockout.
Unfortunately for Garbrandt, his opponent is one of New Zealand’s impressive up and comers. However fair to note, Kai Kara-France has dropped 2 of his last 4 matchups, and last by knockout.
If one thing is for sure, this fight will be dynamite as both fighters love to scrap, and each are desperate for a big win. Cody always carried major power at 135, but will it transfer down to 125, especially after a significant weight cut? We will have to see.
MMA Prediction: Cody Garbrandt – KO
Howbeit, what we do know is that Cody is the more superior fighter, in all aspects of the fight game. However, he finds himself getting over confident and has continually been exposed with his weak chin.
But, can the Flyweights put him down like the Bantamweights did? Until proved otherwise, its safe to say Cody Garbrandt should get the job done, Saturday night.
