UFC 210 Full Card Preview and Picks:
Ready for UFC 210: Cormier vs. Johnson 2 picks and betting odds & predictions? UFC 210 comes our way this Saturday from the great state of New York. A pretty enticing card including a Light Heavyweight Title bout between two familiar foes and a host of other contests with serious Title implications are scheduled.
Here is a look at every fight and what should play out on what should be a scintillating night at the fights.
UFC 210: “Cormier vs. Johnson 2”
Date: Sat., April 8, 2017
Location: KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York
Broadcast: Pay-Per-View (PPV)
Main Card (10 p.m. ET on Pay-Per-View)
(18-1): EVEN Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson (22-5) -130
As demonstrated by the oddsmakers, the Light Heavyweight Title fight between Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson figures to be razor close. Cormier won the first fight between the two and each have progressed to varying degrees since that fight.
It is a classic grappler/striker contest that we are looking at – Cormier is one of the best grapplers in the sport while Johnson has established himself as one of, if not the most dangerous pure strikers in the game. So – do you like the smothering style and the elite wrestling background of the Champion Cormier or do you like the pure punching power of the challenger here?
For me it’s the punching power that gets it done.

Everyone in the world knows what Cormier is going to try to establish here – my though is that Johnson prepares well and is able to catch the Champ during one of his inevitable takedown attempts.
Cormier has been playing with fire the last couple of years and hasn’t gotten burned yet – I think it catches up to him Saturday night and we have a new champ by night’s end.
MMA Betting Pick: Anthony Johnson -130
(13-2) EVEN Chris Weidman vs. Gegard Mousasi (41-6-2) -130
Former Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman attempts to bounce back from back-to-back knockout losses on Saturday night when he takes on the very tough and upwardly trending Gegard Mousasi – the winner here may be one step away from a Title shot themselves.
Weidman looked absolutely unstoppable a couple years ago – his well rounded game was the envy of the sport and he started his career 13-0. But he hasn’t been the same the last couple of years – Luke Rockholt and Yoel Romero absolutely rocked him and ended his evening early.
We have all seen what a couple of knockout losses can do to a fighter – hopes for Weidman are that he is the exception, not the rule.
Gegard Mousasi is uber-experienced – there isn’t a whole lot that he hasn’t seen in his 40 career bouts. He is well rounded as well – 22 knockouts and 12 submissions.
Mousasi enters on a four fight win streak – all in dominant fashion with one thing on his mind – a shot at the UFC Middleweight crown.
This fight will likely come down to what is between the ears. While Mousasi is sky high and feeling invincible, Weidman has to have some question marks swirling around his head.
That’s the difference as a tentative Weidman is overwhelmed by a star on the rise. This is a matchup of a shooting star versus a falling one!
MMA Betting Pick: Gegard Mousasi-130
(4-0) -270 Cynthia Calvillo vs. Pearl Gonzalez (6-1) +210
Unheralded yet undefeated Cynthia Calvillo takes on Pearl Gonzalez in the second women’s bout on the card. Calvillo has won four straight while Gonzalez has picked up six straight wins since losing in her pro debut.
While Calvillo’s impressive all-around game has the oddsmakers looking strongly at her, I am looking at the experience of Gonzalez to prevail here.
Gonzalez brings with her an elite set of submission skills and she has demonstrated in the past that she can go to war and survive brutality. Calvillo will have a tough time keeping this fight off of the mat where her opponent has an immense advantage.
Even if this fight stays standing for a while I like Gonzalez to be able to weather a storm and to dictate where this fight happens to go.
MMA Betting Pick: Pearl Gonzalez +210
(21-11) +140 Thiago Alves vs. Patrick Cote (23-10) -170
Two fighters looking to rebound off losses meet in Welterweight action when Thiago Alves takes on Patrick Cote. There is a chance that the loser of this fight gets cut from the organization meaning that there will be a ton on the line Saturday night.
The 33 year old Alves is a tough guy indeed but he has gone just 3-4 in his last seven fights overall. Cote on the other hand had been decent before losing last time out.

In this fight my bet is that size matters. It wasn’t too long ago that Cote was challenging for the Middleweight strap – Alves on the other hand was going to attempt a run at Lightweight before returning to Welterweight for this very fight.
Both fighters are dangerous indeed but Cote has been the better of the two the last couple of years and he will have an immense size advantage. Take the Canadian to keep his name in the middle tier of Middleweights with an eye on bigger things to come.
MMA Betting Pick: Patrick Cote -170
(18-2) -275 Will Brooks vs. Charles Oliveira (21-7-0, 1NC) +215
Submission specialist Charles Oliveira looks to climb the Lightweight ladder once again Saturday night when he takes on the very tough Will Brooks who had won nine straight fights before a loss last time out. In fact, both fighters are coming off losses.
Oliveira is 5-3 in his last eight fights – it is definitely notable to mention that those losses have come against the likes of Ricardo Lamas, Anthony Pettis and Max Holloway – no shame in that. Brooks, although impressive in his career hasn’t faced anything near that caliber of fighters.
While Brooks has been terrific so far in his career at avoiding submissions Oliveira is in a totally different class – he is due for a big win and I think it comes here. I just can’t resist him as such a big underdog in this bout.
MMA Betting Pick: Charles Oliveira +215
