Location: UFC Apex, Las Vegas, Nevada
UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Walker takes place Saturday, October 2nd, from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The main card fights are broken down below.
Thiago Santos -171 vs Johnny Walker +149
Thiago Santos will come into this one having dropped 3 straight fights dating back to his title clash and split-decision loss to Jon Jones at UFC 239. Perhaps coming that close to the championship but not winning it has thrown his career off course. He’ll have an opportunity to right the ship Saturday night against Johnny Walker.
Johnny Walker got back in the win column his last fight after dropping his previous 2 fights. He defeated Ryan Spann a little over a year ago at Fight Night 178.
MMA Betting Prediction: I like Santos at -171 in this one. It’s easy to look at his recent losses and assume that might be it for the 37-year-old but something tells me he’s still got a little left in the tank.
Kevin Holland -110 vs Kyle Daukaus -110
Kevin Holland will be looking to get back in the winners circle on Saturday night. He’s dropped two straight decisions to run his UFC record to 8-4. His opponent, Kyle Daukaus, is 1-2 so far in his first 3 UFC fights. All 3 of his fights have gone to a decision.
MMA Betting Prediction: The oddsmakers have this one at a pick’em but I’d consider Holland the favorite to win this fight. He’s proven he can hang in the UFC with good fighters while Daukaus has yet to prove the same. Then again, a win over Holland would do exactly that for him.
Misha Cirkunov +140 vs Krzysztof Jotko -160
Latvia’s Misha Cirukunov comes into this one having dropped 4 of his last 6 fights. Ryan Spann just needed a little over a minute to end his night back in March. Meanwhile, Jotko has won 3 of his last 4 but was defeated his last time in the cage when he faced Sean Strickland back in May.
MMA Betting Prediction: Misha Cirkunov is better than his recent record suggests. He is a guy who knows how to finish his opponents and doesn’t like to take things to the judges. I think he’ll end up finishing Jotko on Saturday.
Alex Oliveira +120 vs Niko Price -140
“Cowboy” Alex Oliveira has dropped 4 of his last 6 fights. He’s been submitted in the 1st round his last two trips into the cage. Meanwhile, Niko Price has only managed 2 wins in his last 7 fights. Neither guy can afford to continue with their string of losses.
MMA Betting Prediction: Although I worry Oliveira has taken a lot of damage in his career, I still think he can pull this one out over Price. Oliveira is a tough-nosed fighter, even if his win/loss record hasn’t been stellar as of late.
Aspen Ladd -250 vs Macy Chiasson +210
Aspen Ladd hasn’t fought since late 2019 and there really is no way to tell what version of her we’re going to see in the cage. The one blemish on her record was when Germaine de Randamie knocked her out in just 16 seconds in the summer of 2019. She then bounced back with a win over Yana Kunitskaya her next time out. As for Macy Chiasson, she only has the one blemish on her record as well, a decision loss to Lina Lansberg in the fall of 2019.
MMA Betting Prediction: So far the only way to beat Ladd is to finish her but Chiasson isn’t much of a finisher. I think a longer fight favors Ladd and that’s the most likely scenario we will see on Saturday. Not sure I like Ladd at -250 but she’s most likely going to win this fight.
