The #6 ranked Light heavyweight in the UFC, Anthony Smith, clashes with the #11 ranked Ryan Spann in the main event of UFC FIght Night 192 on Saturday from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
For Smith this will be his 16th fight in the UFC. His record in the promotion currently sits at 10-5. He’s 3-2 since dropping a LIght Heavyweight title shot against Jon Jones at UFC 235. He followed that fight up with a win and performance bonus against Alexander Gustafsson. He’d drop his next two fights against Glover Teixeira and Aleksandar Rakić, however. Since then, Smith is on a 2-fight win streak following victories over Devin Clark and Jimmy Crute.
As for Spann, he’s 5-1 in his UFC career thus far. He started out his UFC run with 4 straight victories before being finished in the first round by Johnny Walker a year ago. Then he needed just over a minute to finish Misha Cirkunov back in March.
MMA Prediction: Ryan Spann +140
For Smith, this fight is almost as if he is gatekeeping the top-10 rankings for Spann and in the process will attempt to prove he still belongs there as well. Spann’s trajectory is moving up and forward, however, while Smith feels like he may have peaked already. That bodes well for Spann to pull off a mild upset here.
Ion Cutelaba -105 vs Devin Clark -115
Ion Cutelaba will be given another chance to turn around his recent misfortune when he faces Devin Clark at Fight Night 192. For Cutelaba, he’s only had 1 win in his last 5 trips into the octagon (1-3-1). He fought to a split-decision draw to Dustin Jacoby in his last fight back in May. After 10 fights in the UFC, Cutelaba has a sub-.500 record of 4-5-1.
As for Devin Clark, he comes into this one after being choked out by Anthony Smith back in November. In October 2019, he also lost to Ryan Spann, so he has lost to both fighters in the main event this card. Clark had 11 fights in the UFC and sports a 6-5 record currently.
MMA Prediction: Devin Clark -115
There is not much to separate these two fighters and they both need a win. When in doubt, however, bet on the Jackson-Wink fighter, which in this case means Clark.
Ariane Lipski -115 vs Mandy Bohm -105
Undefeated German fighter Mandy Bohm will make her UFC debut in this fight. She comes into this one after defeating Griet Eeckhout via decision for Bellator back in October. Meanwhile, her opponent will be headed into her 7th UFC fight and will be looking to right the ship. Ariane Lipski has lost 4 of her 6 fights in the UFC thus far. She’s lost and been finished two in a row with her last fight being a loss to Montana De La Rosa back in June. Her fight before that was a loss to Antonina Shevchenko last November.
MMA Betting Prediction: Mandy Bohm -105
Lipski has struggled in her UFC career thus far and Bohm will just be kicking hers off here. Lipski must know she needs to win this one but Bohm will be coming into the fight with the confidence that only an undefeated fighter can have. I like her to edge out Lipski in this one.
Arman Tsarukyan -700 vs Christos Giagos +425
Russian fighter Tsarukyan heads into this one on a 3-fight win (3-1 in the UFC) streak as the heavy favorite. His opponent Christo Giagos is 4-2 thus far in the UFC and is currently on a 2-fight win streak. There are people touting Tsarukyan as one to watch in the lightweight division and he seems poised to use Giagos as a stepping stone here.
MMA Prediction: Arman Tsarukyan -700
Tsarukyan has the attention of the odds-makers and with good reason. He’ll be looking to prove he’s the real deal here.
