The Eastern Conference Finals will see Atlanta United host Toronto FC. Both teams have looked extremely good in the playoffs so far. Atlanta is looking to make their second straight appearance in the MLS Cup Final. Toronto has also been to the final in recent years so they know how to handle this pressure.
Each team won on their home pitch this season. Atlanta beat Toronto in Mercedes-Benz, 2-0 back in May of this year.
Toronto FC
Toronto somewhat shocked the Eastern Conference by taking down the number one seed, NYCFC. The score to this game was 2-1. A 90th minute goal on a penalty kick gave Toronto the upset win and kept the game from going to extra time.
On the season, Toronto is now 5-6-7 on the road. They have never won in Atlanta in three matches all-time. They have however played to a draw in two of their three games in Atlanta.
Their attack has looked explosive in their two playoff games, scoring an average of 3.5 goals per game. In just away matches, Toronto averaged 1.39 goals per game when away from home.
Their leading scorer, Jozy Altidore, is still questionable for this game with a quadricep injury. Several guys have picked up the scoring for Toronto, including Alejandro Pozuelo, who scored both goals against NYCFC. If Altidore cannot play, they will need someone to fill his role.

Their defending has also picked up in the playoffs, allowing two goals in two games. They now allow 1.5 goals per game on the road. In six all-time games against Atlanta, they have held this team to 1.83 goals per game, so they have had a ton of success shutting down Josef Martinez.
Atlanta United
Atlanta cruised to a 2-0 win over the Philadelphia Union and now will host the conference finals thanks to this Toronto side. They have obviously been dominant in their home stadium, winning 14 of their 19 games, which includes two playoff matches.
The Atlanta attack has been a little quiet in the playoffs, scoring just three goals in two games. Josef Martinez, the leading scorer in the Eastern Conference, has just one goal in two playoff games. He scored in the 80th minute to put away Philadelphia, but needs to be more of a threat against Toronto.
Being at home, Atlanta has averaged 2.05 goals per game. They will likely need to score multiple goals to win this game because Toronto has the ability to score goals in a hurry.
The Atlanta defending has been pretty much perfect so far in the playoffs. They have yet to allow a goal in two games. Now facing a better attacking club, Atlanta will really be put to the test. The good news is they certainly defend better at home in general. On the season, they allow an average of 0.74 goals per game in their own stadium.
They do have two key defending players out with injuries. That being Michael Parkhurst and Miles Robinson. Even with them being listed as out, Atlanta still should be able to lock up the Toronto attack.
