Both of these teams are below the playoff cut line and will need to improve over the final third of the season. A win would bring NE even with Philly in the standings.
Philadelphia Union
The Union hit the road for this one but they did beat the Revolution 3-0 the last time they faced each other in PA.
There is no doubt who the lead dog is with the Union, that would be CJ Sapong who leads the team with a career high 10 goals.

That is why it was so laughable when sometime sub Roland Alberg was starting up in the last game. Alberg is no scrub but it was an unnecessary distraction in an otherwise easy win.
Philly won the last match in this series earlier this season but they have always had success at New England with a 4-2-4 record all time at Gillette Stadium. This is a critical match, one where they need to get the three points and can’t settle for less.
New England Revolution
The timing within a soccer season is often imperfect but in the case of the Revolution the Gold Cup break was very well timed. They entered the blackout period on a four game losing skid but took their first game back on the pitch last weekend, beating L.A. 4-3.
Teal Bunbury has three goals this season, hardly an impressive figure but the veteran has scored them all in the last two contests. His career high for a season is 9 so it is not like he is one of the MLS elite but perhaps he is a hot hand that NE can ride in the second half. Most of the time he doesn’t even start but he might this weekend.
The outburst from Bunbury could not have come at a better time because the rest of the Revs have not been very lively in July. Leading goal scorer Lee Nguyen is their most reliable scorer but the midfielder has yet to come anywhere close to the 18 goals he netted in 2014. He has scored in the last two games and is more dangerous as part of a diverse attack.

The line on this one is a little surprising. Even though the Revs are at home I am not sure the location of the match is enough to install them as significant favourites. Especially the way that Philly has traditionally fared in this series.
Free Philadelphia Union vs. New England Revolution MLS Prediction:
Betting the Revs to win has no value. There are not a lot of true upsets on the pitch in any league but this looks like a spot where you can bet behind the visitors and earn a nice payoff.
4* Free MLS Betting Pick: Philadelphia to win
The Union will have no fear heading into this one and will start aggressively and control the action.
