The New England Revolution will look to defend home field this Saturday, as they take on the New York Red Bulls in an effort to extend their lead atop the Eastern Conference.
New York Red Bulls
The New York Red Bulls have started the season almost as you would have expected beating the teams you expect them to beat and losing to the teams you would expect them to lose against. Their last game was a bit unfortunate though, as they were unable to muster much offense at all against Philadelphia with only one shot on target registered and they may not find things much easier here against a strong Revs team.
One big loss for this team is that of defender Aaron Long who will be out for the entire season after suffering an Achilles injury, so we do not know how good this defense will be for the rest of the season with one of their best defenders out for the long term.
That last game was the only time this season the Red Bulls did not score, so I would expect them to bounce back here with my eye going to Caden Clark in the defensive midfielder spot who has already scored three times and who has looked rock-solid thus far this season.
New England Revolution
The New England Revolution got a much needed win in their last game, as they were able to break-down a defensive minded Nashville team to come out with the victory by a score of 1-0 off of the back of an 84th minute strike from Adam Buksa.
I full expect the Revolution to go right back to a 4-2-3-1 formation which worked for them last time and I really am looking forward to watching Carles Gil pull the strings in midfield for this team, as he looks like one of the better midfielders in all of the MLS.
With the team that they have put together here though, I would be surprised not to see them towards the top of the Eastern Conference at the end of the season, as they even have some nice depth pieces off of the bench, so they should be in a good spot to withstand the long MLS season.
Free New York Red Bulls vs New England Revolution MLS Prediction:
I think the New England Revolution will look to push the pace a bit here, as they probably see this as an excellent opportunity to pick up all three points and on the opposite side of things I can see the New York Red Bulls contributing enough on the scoreboard to help this game get over the 2.5 point total.
The line is also quite reasonable at 2.5, and I think this one could turn into a bit of a shootout, so if you are looking for a nice + money price on this match I would not be opposed to going with one of the alternate totals like over 3.5.
