These teams are just a point apart in the Eastern Conference standings, but in the lower half. Doesn’t it seem like the 4th of July would have been the day to host this tilt, regardless?
New England Revolution
The Revolution will have a quick turnaround here. They just played DC United in the Open Cup on Wednesday, winning 2-1. The win was needed after a couple of losses.

Juan Agudelo is the scoring threat for New England. His next goal will set a new personal record for the native Columbian and you can bet he will be marked closely.
Last year might have been the breakout we are seeing this season were it not for injuries that forced him to miss 10 games. He is comfortable on the wing and at striker making him that much more dangerous.
Midfielder Lee Nguyen is second on the team in scoring and leads in assists.
He might never find the form that saw him score 18 goals in 2018 but he is an important player for NE. Don’t let the name fool you, he was born in Texas and has been capped several time by the USMNT. Though not since 2015.
Philadelphia Union
The Union also had a midweek Open Cup match, losing to the Red Bulls on penalty kicks. They did win their last MLS game though, beating DC United 1-0. This season has been a struggle and they need to pick things.
This game marks the mid-way point of their season and they have ground to make up if they want to make the playoffs.
One positive of the season to date is that they are one of only two teams currently below the cut line with a positive goal differential at +1. And they have a game in hand on the teams they are chasing in the standings.
The Union do not score often but when they do CJ Sapong is usually involved. Sapong has scored or assisted on more than half the team’s goals and looks likely to set new career marks in both categories.

He is on the provisional roster for the Gold Cup occurring later this summer.
Philadelphia is certainly not an elite team but they are getting points at home in two thirds of their contests. Even though they are far from a pace team this one might feature some scoring.
Free New England Revolution vs. Philadelphia Union MLS Prediction:
You can read from the odds that these teams are going to push each other. More often than not there will be scoring when the Union are the hosts – their home games see more than 2.5 goals most of the time.
Ditto for the Revolution on the road. These teams are not far from each other bit this will be the first time they have played this season.
4* Free MLS Betting Pick: Philadelphia to win
These teams are probably pretty even but getting the home team with a chance to double your money looks like a pretty good bet.
