Napoli has played well in this year’s competition. Group E has been surprisingly exciting this year, with some great games being played with unexpected results. Napoli will top the group if they win along with a win or tie for Red Bull Salzburg against Liverpool.

They have not lost a single game in this competition. The defensive play of their back four featuring Kalidou Koulibaly, Kostas Manolas, Mario Rui, and Giovanni Di Loreno have been formidable to break down.
Genk will provide little opposition in attack as they did in their last meeting. It’s Napoli’s attack that has been disappointing this season. Will they show up? Dries Mertens and Hirving Lozano might find more gaps in Genk’s defenses compared to their domestic oppositions.

Genk’s season domestically and in Europe has been subpar and border lining abysmal. Their most recent loss coming in the Belgian Cup, losing on penalties to Antwerp. Their lapses in defense have been one of the main reasons for their season woes.
They are going to make another change in goal opting for the 17-year-old Maarten Vandervoort, who has usurped Gaeten Coucke. It might be a while until we see first-choice goalkeeper Danny Vuckovic who is suffering from an Achilles injury.
The loss of Bryan Heynen in midfield has also disrupted this young side’s progress. Junya Ito and Mbwanna Samatta have provided some spark in attack. However, with a leaky defense, Genk has been forced to line up defensively against the top tier of Europe.
Napoli will be looking to gain confidence in this game particularly in getting goals. The only positive for Genk coming into this game is that they held Napoli to a scoreless draw in their first meeting. They have however not traveled well in Europe this season.
