Minnesota United will look to carry some momentum over from their last two games into Banc of California Stadium where they will take on LAFC this Wednesday.
Minnesota United did win their last two games against Portland and Seattle only allowing one goal in the process and although they were able to lean on their defense in those two games that will likely not be the case in this one, as LAFC brings with them a potent offense.
Minnesota comes into this game with a 6-3-5 record and they have managed to do that while only scoring 15 goals which seems pretty amazing and frankly unsustainable for the rest of the season.
Robin Lod will be the main guy to look out for in terms of offense here, as he leads the team with 4 goals and has been able to chip in with 2 assists, as he really is the only guy who has been able to make a big impact for this team in the opposing half.
I would expect Minnesota to go back to a 4-2-3-1 formation with Hunou leading the charge up from and Lod pulling the strings in midfield. In addition, although this team has not been able to muster much offense this year they were able to get 28 shots off against Seattle last time, so they may be turning the corner in terms of offense.
LAFC are 3-1-1 in their last 5 games, so things have been going quite well for them, but they will be hungry to get back in the win column here only getting a 2-2 draw against the Whitecaps last time out and that is a team they would expect to beat most of the time.
This LAFC offense is good, and although they only have 20 goals on the season which has them in 11th place int he league, I fully expect them to add to that number in a big way in the coming weeks, as they just have so much talent going forward with guys like Rossi and Cifuentes in their squad.
LAFC will also most likely resort back to playing 5 at the back in a 5-3-2 formation and the big plus for LAFC here is that I can really see their full backs giving Minnesota problems, as they have pace on the wings.
Free Minnesota United vs LAFC MLS Prediction:
Minnesota finally showed some life in terms of offense last time out against Seattle and I can imagine them contributing on the scoreboard enough to help this total go over the 3.5, as I see LAFC having no problems scoring in this spot, as they will just have too much talent on offense here.
Another guy on LAFC who will give Minnesota problems is Carlos Vela who is one of the highest paid players in all of the MLS and that is with good reason, as he has the creativity to really crack the Minnesota defense in the final third of the pitch.
