Manchester United fans were well aware of just how bad this season could be, but only being 4 points clear of a very mediocre Burnley side was likely a scenario even the most pessimistic United fan would have imagined. That is the scenario this Saturday, however, as Manchester United will look to make a run at the top 6 and Burnley will look to solidify their position in the middle of the table.
Although on paper this should be an easy victory for United the bookies are thinking this away game might be quite a bit more challenging then some think.
Manchester United
Manchester United is a tough team to really get a grasp of, as they have a decent squad, but their results are all over the place. In their last 8 competitive games the have draws against Aston Villa and Everton and an away loss to lowly Watford. However, in the same span, they also have a victory over Tottenham and an astonishing victory over their hated rivals Manchester City at the Emirates.
That inconsistency is the main reason the bookies have them at -120 in this game, as we just don’t know what team is going to show up come Saturday.

Their last match was a display of just how good this team can be on it’s day as they comprehensively defeated Newcastle 4-1 in a game they fired 22 shots towards the Newcastle goal. Marcus Rashford scored again for United in that game to bring his season goal tally to 11.
Rashford has been the most consistent offensive threat for United all season and it would not surprise me to see his name up on the scoresheet once again this Saturday.
Burnley
Burnley is having another reasonable season at 7-3-9 and they seem to be another team who knows they cannot compete anywhere close to the level of the top 6, but they are extremely competitive against the rest of the league. Manchester United is not exactly top 6 material this year, so if they bring their A game this weekend they could be in for a historic victory.
In order to do that they will need Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes to get going again up front as their hot start to the season has fallen off a bit. Their performances in this one are critical as they are unlikely to keep Manchester United off the scoreboard with their below par defense which has already allowed 30 goals on the season.
I think the Burnley management will be well aware of this fact and I can see them deploying a very offensive minded 4-4-2 formation in this one as they look to win a shootout against The Red Devils.

Manchester United showed off their offensive exploits last time out against Newcastle and this should make for an easier matchup, so I can see United putting up a few goals in this one especially if Rashford shows up to play. On the flip side I think this Burnley team has enough firepower to cause this United defense issues, so I can see us being in for an entertaining and high scoring affair.
