The Premier League returns this Saturday and it all kicks off when Manchester City travel to Newcastle for a date with The Magpies.
Manchester City
Manchester City were shocked in midweek as they were held to just a draw against Shakhtar Donestsk in a game just about everyone expected them to win. They also needed a big come from behind win against Chelsea this past weekend, so this Manchester City side is not exactly in great form.
This also is not the easiest ”get right” spot either despite the current bookies offering of -600 on the City win. Newcastle, in this situation, almost always goes with 5 at the back and they are notoriously tough to break down and they have held numerous top 6 teams down offensively.
Manchester City and Pep Guardiola likely revert to a 4-3-3 with Mahrez, Sterling and Aguero leading the line up top. Although this team has a ton of firepower I would look out for Sergio Aguero to get on the board here as he is still one of the world’s best strikers and he already has 9 goals in just 12 Premier League games.
Newcastle
Newcastle did go with 5 at the back in their last game against Aston Villa, but it did not help them much as they conceded twice and fell by a score of 2-0 in an uninspiring effort. This offense has struggled all year and their offensive woes really showed in that last game as Newcastle even tried a late swap and brought in Andy Carrol to try to get a goal.
It almost goes without saying here that they will need to get at least two goals here to get any kind of result as this Newcastle defense, who has been good this year, will be up against a different animal this Saturday.

In terms of players to look out for I would go with Jonjo Shelvey as he is the one who pulls the strings in midfield for this team. There really is not a lot of flash on this team and it seems like the only realistic path to victory here for Newcastle is to open up and invite pressure so they can counter effectively.
Though that is likely to be the best strategy for this Newcastle side it likely won’t matter as even an out of form Manchester City should be a step too far for Newcastle.
Free Manchester City vs Newcastle EPL Prediction:
Newcastle will do absolutely everything they can to defend this 0-0 and although I think Manchester City breaks this team down, I do think it might take awhile.
I also do not believe Newcastle will be able to score here as their offense has been anemic and it is hard t imagine them getting out of their own half very much here.
The bookies have the over/under at 3.5 and because I do not think Newcastle will score I am basically evaluating how many goals will Manchester City get in this spot. For me, given Newcastle’s respectable defense, I can see City being held to 3 or less goals here, so the under looks the way to go.
