Many people might scoff at the idea Southampton being a solid team, but I think their early struggles are behind them and they will now steadily climb the table to safely avoid the drop this year.

Crystal Palace have been consistent all year long, as they seem to beat the teams they should and then consistently lose against the top 6 or 7 sides. They have achieved that consistency due to an outstanding defense which has only given up 21 goals in 19 games.
This team typically rolls out with a 4-5-1 formation with three holding midfielders down the center which really makes it tough for the opposition to score. Consequently that defensive style hurts their offense as they have only scored 17 goals on the season with very few of them coming from open play.

Southampton represents a good spot to hit the back of the net a couple of times and get this offense back on track, but obviously the bookies have no faith in their ability to do that at the current price.
The key player for this team is Wilfried Zaha who can be a bit inconsistent at times, but has been much better as of late and I would once again look for him to give Southampton problems down the wing.

Southampton were in dire straits just a month ago, as it looked like they were completely hopeless at times and it seemed like they were destined for a 20-21 campaign in the English Championship. Two straight victories have given them some much needed breathing room and due to their solid performances over the last month or so they now sit in 14th position.
Their most recent game against Chelsea was unarguably the most impressive, as they took it to the Blues and won comprehensively at Stamford Bridge by a score of 2-0. Nathan Redmond bagged a goal for Southampton in that last game and he will no doubt play a big role once again in what should be a highly competitive and tough fought game.
