This is a rematch of an earlier game won by Iowa State 37-30. If we get another close game that won’t be so bad.
The playoff rankings indicate that maybe Iowa State is a viable team but a lot would have to happen.

Oklahoma Sooners
Early in the season, the Sooners were 1-2 and the sky was falling Since then they have won 6 straight and covered in the last five.
I don’t want to say that this is a totally different team but two things have definitely improved, the running game and the defense. Both are classic contributors to winning.
On defense, they have been significantly better. Over the last five games, they have given up more than 14 points just once.
The running game improvement is a little less obvious as Oklahoma is definitely still a passing team. Greater productivity there means that Spencer Rattler does not have to do it all himself though.
Oklahoma is in a rare spot hunting for revenge. You might not want to miss it.
Iowa State
I have to be a little careful here because I admit I do want Iowa State to win. As a fan, it is just good to have a changeup in the narrative from time to time. The Cyclones would definitely be that.
Iowa State is definitely capable of it too. Their two losses are to Louisiana in the first game of the season and to Oklahoma State by three points. Nothing terrible there.
There is a lot to like about them on offense. QB Brock Purdy is very experienced and when you combine him with RB Breece Hall you get an offense that can be balanced, explosive and take what the defense gives them.
The numbers show that Iowa State is the better defensive team too. Their win over Oklahoma in that first game was no fluke.
