Coming off two straight wins, the Vancouver Canucks head to Chicago to take on the Blackhawks in the United Center.
Chicago has won two straight and six out of the last eight, and will look to continue a solid stretch leading up to the All-Star break.
Vancouver Canucks
Sitting 5th in the Pacific Division, the Canucks aren’t looking likely to make the playoffs unless they have a deep run in the second half of the season.
Vancouver really hasn’t been a good offensive team this season, despite having some solid players. The Canucks rank 25th in the NHL in goals scored, with 112 on the year.

Center Bo Horvat has been the Canucks’ best goal-scorer this year. He has 13 goals this season, along with 17 assists. He has a goal and an assist over his last five games and he’ll look to add to that against the Blackhawks.
Vancouver will definitely need Horvat to step up in order to have a chance.
Fellow center Brandon Sutter has been solid. He has 12 goals and 11 assists this year, including two goals and an assist over his last five games.
To beat Chicago, the offense will have to be on point. Chicago has the ability to win games with its defense and the Canucks will have to find a way to get shots on goal in order to open up that defense.
Chicago Blackhawks
Chicago has had a few ups and downs this season, including a stint filled with injuries. However, things are looking up in January and the Blackhawks have won six out of eight.
Both offensively and defensively, the Blackhawks have been respectable this season. Chicago ranks 10th in both goals scored and goals against.
On offense, Artem Anisimov and Artemi Panarin have been wonderful. Anisimov has 18 goals this year, but hasn’t recorded a goal in his last five games. Panarin has been great too.
[dfads params=’groups=234&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
He has 17 goals and 26 assists, including a goal and two assists over his last five.
38-year old Marian Hossa continues to kill it on offense. He has 16 goals and 12 assists this season. Against Colorado on Wednesday, he recorded three assists in a solid 6-4 win.
The offense has been good for the Blackhawks all year and things should stay the same against Vancouver on Sunday night.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Vancouver is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 games
- The Total has gone OVER in four of Chicago’s last five games
Free Vancouver Canucks vs. Chicago Blackhawks NHL Hockey Prediction:
A healthy Blackhawks team is a good Blackhawks team and that has been evident recently. Against an average Vancouver team, Chicago should have a good shot to win at home.
Chicago gets the W on Sunday.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Chicago ML
Chicago is a much better team than Vancouver this season. The Canucks always give Chicago a good fight but, with Chicago being at full strength, I definitely like the Blackhawks money line in this one.
