The Blues and Flyers, two teams fighting to stay alive in their respective postseason races, drop the puck in the City of Brotherly Love in this Monday evening tilt.
St. Louis Blues
The Blues were embarrassed at home by the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night, falling to the Stanley Cup champs, 4-1.
Jake Allen struggled between the pipes once again, and the St. Louis offense couldn’t get anything past Marc Andre-Fleury.
The loss keeps the Blues two points behind Calgary for the conference’s final playoff spot, and they’ll have to find a way to get past a Flyers team that plays much better at home.

The Blues are a lost team right now, having fired head coach Ken Hitchcock less than a week ago. Vladimir Tarasenko has been the MVP of the team thus far, but he needs help from the rest of his mates if the Blues want to make the playoffs.
St. Louis has dropped six of its last eight games, not a stat you want to see with a postseason spot on the line.
Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers were stymied by the L.A. Kings at home on Saturday, losing 1-0 in overtime. You can’t fault the Flyers’ offense entirely though, especially because the Kings are 5th in the NHL in goals allowed per game 1st in shots allowed per game.
That point put Philadelphia a point ahead of the Bruins for 7th in the Eastern Conference and just one point behind the Senators for 6th.

Michael Neuvirth played as well as he could have, stopping 26 of 27 L.A. shots. He’s by far been the better Philadelphia goaltender with a season record of 8-4-1.
Between Neuvirth’s injuries and Steve Mason’s struggles, goaltending has plagued the Flyers badly this season. While their defense ranks 8th in shots on goal allowed, they rank 25th in goals allowed.
Philadelphia has a couple advantages in this game, including their home record of 16-7-4, and their 10-6-4 record vs. Western Conference opponents.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Flyers are 16-7-2 as favorites.
- Flyers are 16-7-4 at home.
- Blues are 8-13-1 on the road.
- Blues are 7-9 as underdogs.
Free St. Louis Blues vs. Philadelphia Flyers NHL Hockey Prediction:
While both of these teams are fighting for a playoff spot, the Flyers are in a more favorable position. Philadelphia plays well both at home and against the Western Conference, while the Blues are awful on the road.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Philadelphia -120
The Flyers at -120 is a solid price, in my opinion, and I think they’ll get the job done against an identity-less St. Louis team.
