The Nashville Predators travel to Minnesota to take on the red-hot Wild in a divisional matchup on Sunday.
The Wild find themselves tied with the Blackhawks for the best record in the Western Conference, while the Preds are in a three-way tie for the conference’s 6th playoff seed.
Nashville Predators
Nashville has won five of its last six games and is starting to make a move in the West. The Preds have done it with their defense, which has allowed just 10 goals over their last six games.

Pekka Rinne and Juuse Saros have both been exquisite in net for Nashville, especially the 21-year-old Saros. The young Fin is 5-3-1 on the season and has an astonishing save percentage of .952 and a GAA of just 1.44.
He’s won four of his last five starts and has been a nice complement to the veteran Rinne.
Nashville’s offense isn’t anything special as forward Ryan Johansen is their only player with more than 30 points.
The Predators can ride their stellar defense all the way to the playoffs, but they need to find their offense if they want to make a deep run.
Minnesota Wild
It’s hard to find a more complete NHL team than the Minnesota Wild, who have won 18 of their last 21 games. The Wild can do it all.
Veteran Eric Staal and company possess the league’s 3rd-best offense with 3.27 goals per game, and goaltender Devan Dubnyk will most likely take home this year’s Vezina Trophy.
[dfads params=’groups=234&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
Dubnyk leads the league in both GAA and save percentage, and ranks 2nd in both wins and shutouts. When your goalie is as hot as Dubnyk, it’s hard to lose many games.
Minnesota also has five players who rank top-10 in the NHL in plus-minus, including defenseman Ryan Suter whose mark of +26 is tied for the league lead with teammate Jared Spurgeon.
Despite their lack of postseason success, the Wild have all the pieces to make a Stanley Cup run.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Wild are 18-3 SU in their last 21 games.
- Wild O/U is 10-1-2 in their last 13 games.
- Predators are 10-12-2 on the road.
- Predators are 10-8-1 vs. the Central Division.
- Wild are 9-3-2 vs. the Central Division.
Free Nashville Predators vs. Minnesota Wild NHL Hockey Prediction:
The Predators’ quality defense has catapulted them in the standings, but they remain more than 10 points behind both the Blackhawks and the Wild in the division.
It’s tough to find a hotter team in the league than the Wild, and with good reason. They’re clicking on all cylinders and are playing efficient as a team. I’ll stick with the red-hot Wild to get the job done against Nashville.
