The top team in the Pacific Division, San Jose, heads to Chicago to take on the top team in the Central Division.
Both on solid winning streaks, these two teams will meet Sunday evening in what should be a very entertaining matchup.
Nashville Predators
Nashville has started 2017 with a 1-1-1 record, most recently taking a 2-1 loss to the Florida Panthers. Both sides of the ice are struggling to find consistency and things have only gotten worse for the team trying to gain ground in the Central Division.
Both the offense and defense took a hit when star two-way defenseman P.K. Subban went on injured reserve with a back injury. He looks to be out for the next couple of weeks and, against a tough Chicago team, he’ll definitely be missed.
Check out the free sports picks from Cappers Picks experts today!
With Subban out, the Predators lose a solid defenseman and someone who can make things happen on the offensive end. He has 17 points on the year (7G, 10A).
Right wing James Neal has been the Preds’ best goal-scorer this season. He has 14 goals on the year. Center Mike Fisher has been another solid offensive piece for Nashville. With 10 goals and 10 assists on the year, he’s been an important member of the top six.
However, neither Neal or Fisher have a point in the last five games and they’ll need to change that in order to beat the Blackhawks.
Chicago Blackhawks
Despite losing the final three games of 2016 plus the Winter Classic to kick off 2017, Chicago still looks to be a scary team to play.
When there are forwards like Artem Anisimov, Artemi Panarin, Marian Hossa, oh and of course Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, it’s hard to expect the losses to continue.
Chicago has won two straight, one against Buffalo and then against Carolina on Friday. The Hawks have the ability to win any game thanks to their core of forwards and the solid defensemen.
Artem Anisimov now leads the team in goals with 18, along with 13 assists. He has three goals in his last five games.

Artemi Panarin, fresh off a contract extension, has a goal and two assists in his last five, giving him 16 and 24 on the year.
And Marian Hossa, coming back from injury, has already benefited the offense, tallying an assist against Carolina.
Chicago should have a good chance to beat Nashville now that the team is healthy and everybody is contributing.
NHL Betting Trends:
- The UNDER is 3-1-1 in Nashville’s last five games
- Chicago is 2-2-1 in the last five games at home
Free Nashville Predators vs. Chicago Blackhawks NHL Hockey Prediction:
The Blackhawks are healthy and just outmatch the Predators. Especially with P.K. Subban out for Nashville, it’s going to be hard to beat Chicago. Chicago gets the W at home.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Chicago ML
Marian Hossa is back which always makes the Blackhawks a better team. Against an inconsistent Nashville team, I like the Chicago moneyline.
NHL Free Score Prediction: Nashville 2 – Chicago 3
