Coming off a 5-0 shutout loss to the Calgary Flames, the Montreal Canadiens head to Edmonton to take on the Oilers.
Edmonton, with two straight losses in the books, look to grab a win over the Montreal Canadiens.
Montreal Canadiens
Sitting atop the Atlantic Division, the Montreal Canadiens have looked pretty strong this season and have been playing great under new head coach Claude Julien. Sitting at 7-3-0 since Julien took over, the Canadiens are grinding out close games and getting wins. Four of its last six wins have come in overtime.

Except for the 5-0 loss to Calgary, the defense has been great over the last eight games. Montreal has given up just 16 total goals to opponents in the last eight games. The team ranks 7th in goals against for the season and it’s been a big reason why the team is surely headed to the playoffs.
The offense has been inconsistent but has had its moments of brilliance. On the year, the Canadiens rank 14th in the league in goals with 185. Many of those goals have come from captain Max Pacioretty. Pacioretty has 31 goals and 27 assists this season, including three assists over his last five games.
Edmonton Oilers
Sitting 3rd in the Pacific Division, the Edmonton Oilers are so close to the playoffs but need to continue winning games in order to solidify that spot. The Oilers have played some great hockey this season, relying on a mix of offense and defense to get things done.
The Oilers do things well on both ends of the ice. Edmonton ranks 11th in the league in goals scored (190) and 10th in the league in goals against (177).
The goaltending has been solid as well. Cam Talbot has a 33-19-8 record with a 2.39 goals against average and a .919 save perentage. However, he has lost three of his last five starts.

McDavid continues to show why he’s becoming one of the greats in hockey in only his second season. He has 23 goals and 52 assists this year, including three goals and three assists over his last five games. He has two multi-point games in that span.
After some shaky play early in the season, left wing Milan Lucic has turned up the heat recently. He has 14 goals and 23 assists on the year. Over his last five games, he has two goals and two assists.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Edmonton is 7-3 ATS in the last 10 games
- The OVER is 4-1-2 in Montreal’s last seven games

4* Free NHL Betting Pick: There’s no line yet. A final score prediction is posted below.
Edmonton will have to do a lot on offense to keep up with this team. Despite the scorers for the Oilers, I expect the Canadiens to get the W in this one.
