Calgary, however, we can say are not all that great and will be look forward to next year, as it seems like their chances of making the playoffs are very low, but I do expect the Flames to bring their A-game here as they would not be opposed to knocking off their rivals from the East.
Montreal Canadiens
It has been up and down for the Canaidens recently as they have gone 2-2 in their last 4 games, but they do have a realistic chance of getting into the playoffs and making some noise as they do have some pretty decent pieces already in place.
Tyler Toffoli really is the guy to look out for on the offensive side of things, as he has already gotten 15 goals and is not exactly taking his time earning that big new contract he got this past off-season. You also need to talk about defender Jeff Petry this year in terms of the Canadiens offense, as he is another guy rewarding the Canadiens faith scoring 9 goals and adding 14 assists.
Carey Price has been absolutely fantastic for this Canadiens team, but it may be time for Montreal to start looking at their options, as the veteran net-minder is not exactly putting up the number he used to. You would, however, not bet against his ability to get hot for one last run at the Stanley Cup which is the biggest thing missing from Carey Price’s resume.
Calgary Flames
It would not be impossible for the Calgary Flames to make the playoffs from this position, but losing against the Ottawa Senators last time out by a score of 4-3 is just not a good look and can’t have this team coming into this game on a high.
Johnny Gaudreau continues to play at a high level and should be looking to improve upon his already solid numbers of 11 goals and 12 assists.
Jacob Markstrom should get the start here for the Flames and he has decent numbers with a 2.88 GAA and a .907% save percentage and although those numbers are not exactly stellar, he has been the hero for this Flames team on numerous occasions and has been playing extremely well at times and he should be up to the challenge this Thursday against the Canadiens.
NHL Betting Trends:

- Canadiens are 2-7 in their last 9 vs. North.
- Canadiens are 0-4 in their last 4 Thursday games.

- Flames are 9-3 in their last 12 games as a home favorite.
Free Montreal Canadiens vs. Calgary Flames NHL Prediction:
I do like the Calgary Flames goalie a lot more than I like Carey Price as it stands right now and think he can out-duel him in this spot. Despite the difference in record I also feel like there is not a huge gap between these two teams in terms of overall skill level and getting -110 on the home team seems decent enough for me here.
