The Sharks are unfortunately not in the same boat as the visitors in this game losing their last 5 games, but they are a team looking forward at this point and that recent streak does nothing but increase their draft lottery %.
The Minnesota Wild have been charging up the standings and it has mostly to do with their electric offense, as they are putting up 3.13 goals per game which is not something many people expected from this team this past off-season.
The Wild have absolutely killed it with their draft pick of Kirill Kaprizov though, as he looks like a polished NHL player already and has already amassed 21 goals and 19 assists during the season.
We do not have confirmed news at this point as to who will be between the pipes for the Wild, but it is most likely to be Cam Talbot who should fair well in this matchup coming in here with a .926 save percentage.
San Jose Sharks
It has been a rough time for the Sharks, as they just cannot get back into the win column and although they have had to play some great teams, they really should be able to maintain a respectable record given the roster that they have.
The main thing management will need to figure out going into next year is how they increase their goal production, as they are only averaging around two and a half goals per game and that is with Evander Kane having a solid campaign with 17 goals.
Look for Martin Jones to get the start in net for the Sharks and it is really hard to criticize him too much given the team he is playing on, but his stats are not great with a save percentage under .900.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Wild are 9-1 in their last 10 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game.
- Wild are 19-7 in their last 26 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game.
- Wild are 36-16 in their last 52 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game.
- Sharks are 8-20 in their last 28 vs. a team with a winning % above .600.
- Sharks are 6-16 in their last 22 after allowing 5 goals or more in their previous game.
- Sharks are 0-5 in their last 5 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game.
- Sharks are 0-6 in their last 6 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game.
Free Minnesota Wild vs. San Jose Sharks NHL Prediction:
The Minnesota Wild should come in here way more motivated to pick up this win compared to the home team and at -135 it is hard to pass up on the Wild in this spot. Minnesota can hurt the Sharks on all 4 lines and I do not believe they will have much of an answer for the Wild’s first line led by Kaprizov.
