It’s a Central Division rivalry game as the 2nd place Minnesota Wild head to Nashville to take on the 4th place Predators in what is sure to be a great game all around.
The Wild come to Nashville fresh off a Tuesday night win over the Florida Panthers, while the Predators continue their three-game home stand after a comeback victory over the Blues.
The Wild come into this game looking for its sixth win in a row. Minnesota has won its last five games, including an easy win against the Panthers.
The Wild are playing great all-around hockey right now and continue to stifle teams on the defensive end, showing why it is the league leader in goals against.
Goalie Devan Dubnyk has been a brick wall in goal recently.
In this five game win streak, he is 5-0-0 and has only allowed seven goals total. His GAA is an NHL-leading 1.60. He also leads the league in shutouts with four and save percentage at .947.
The offense is playing well, too. Over the five game win streak, the Wild have scored fifteen goals and are getting contributions from all four lines. On Tuesday against the Panthers, five forwards from three lines had goals, including Zach Parise and Mikko Koivu.
The team is firing on all cylinders and are climbing the Central Division.
Sitting in 2nd place, the Wild will look to close the gap on the 1st place Blackhawks Thursday night while also knocking off a division rival.
Tuesday night, Nashville ripped off six straight goals and came back to beat another Central Division rival in the St. Louis Blues.
It was a much needed December victory, as the team is just 2-3-1 so far this month. After winning nine of fourteen in the month of November, the Preds have struggled on the defensive end, digging themselves in holes that they haven’t been able to climb out of.
In Nashville’s six games this month, the team has given up 24 goals, including two five-goal games that both resulted in losses. If the Preds want to take care of the Wild on Thursday, the team will have to do it on the defensive end.
Letting Minnesota get out to an early lead will all but seal the deal, considering how fantastic the Wild have been on defense and in net.
Nashville will need its leaders in captain Mike Fisher (7G, 9A) and James Neal (12G, 5A) to step up and find a way to put a couple past Devan Dubnyk.
Otherwise, this game could be out of reach for the home team.
NHL Betting Trends:
- The Wild are 6-0-0 in its last six games
- Nashville is 10-2-2 at home this season
Free Minnesota Wild vs. Nashville Predators NHL Hockey Prediction:
Minnesota is on a roll and showing no signs of slowing down. Against a division rival, I think Minnesota continues its trend of great defense and, while Nashville keeps it close, the Wild will take home the W.
