The Kings, coming off an overtime loss to the Dallas Stars, will look to grab a win in Vancouver in their first game after the Christmas break.
Vancouver lost the last two games before the short break and will look to find a way to win at home in what has been a really disappointing season for the Canucks so far.
Los Angeles Kings
Away from home, the Kings haven’t been very good this year. Currently, they sit at 7-9-3 on the road and will look to pick up one in the win column in Vancouver.
In the last five games, the Kings are 2-1-2 and haven’t had the easiest time scoring, with the exception of a 4-0 win against Nashville. Besides that game, the Kings haven’t scored more than two goals in any of those games.

The 20th ranked team in goals scored this year, Los Angeles loses a lot of games by one goal because of the lack of offensive prowess.
The good news for the Kings is that the defense continues to be fantastic. The Kings have allowed just 84 goals all year and sit in 6th in the NHL in goals against. The Kings have played well and have a great goalie in Peter Budaj, who is starting in place of the injured Jonathan Quick.
Captain Jeff Carter continues to be great for the Kings. His 19 goals and 10 assists lead the team, and he is a necessity night in and night out. He has five goals in his last three games, including two multi-goal games.
Vancouver Canucks
In the month of December, Vancouver is 4-7-1 and is playing poor hockey on both sides. The Canucks rank 23rd in goals for (86) and dead last in goals against (109). This minus-23 goal differential is one of the worst in the NHL and it explains a lot about why this team has such a disappointing record.
The offense has to improve to have any shot at a playoff birth. The Canucks have 19 games where they’ve scored two goals or less, including five games where they were shutout.
Someone on the Canucks will have to find consistency in goal scoring because even the top players, like the Sedins and Markus Granlund, aren’t getting it done right now.
There’s been some hope on home ice for Vancouver, though. The Canucks are 10-6-2 at home this year and will hope to continue that winning trend against the Los Angeles Kings.

In order to beat the Kings, the offense will have to get going. A one or two-goal game for Vancouver will not result in a win on Wednesday.
NHL Betting Trends:
- The UNDER is 5-0 in Los Angeles’ last five games
- Vancouver is 2-2-1 in the last five games at home
