A depleted Florida team, coming off a shutout loss to Boston, will look to grab a win on the road against a struggling New Jersey Devils squad.
Florida Panthers
Things continue to go poorly for the Florida Panthers and the likes of a repeat trip to the playoffs are looking less and less likely.
The Panthers only have two wins in their last eight games and are coming off a bad 4-0 loss to the Boston Bruins.
The team hasn’t been healthy at all this year and has some new injuries to key players to start 2017.

Center Nick Bjugstad is out for at least two weeks with a lower body injury while starting goaltender Roberto Luongo has missed the last two games with an upper-body injury and his status for Monday is unclear.
Add in the continued injuries of Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov and it’s safe to say that the Florida Panthers are not the team it should be right now.
With so many pieces of the puzzle missing, especially a star goaltender, winning any game right now is going to be difficult, even one against a struggling Devils team.
New Jersey Devils
The Devils still can’t seem to pull out wins, even when the defense plays well against considerably better teams. New Jersey lost a tough 2-1 game to Edmonton in overtime and actually looked solid on defense. Unfortunately, the team couldn’t find anything on the offensive end.
One might consider the defensive effort against Connor McDavid’s Oilers team a fluke, considering the Devils are 23rd in the NHL in goals against and has given up 123 goals on the year.
New Jersey has a minus-28 goal differential for the year, which explains why there are only 16 wins to New Jersey’s name thus far. New Jersey is sixth worst in the league in goal scoring.
Taylor Hall continues to play well for the Devils but only has a goal and two assists over the last five games.

While not bad, the Devils need more from him considering the lack of offensive weapons the team has.
Right winger P.A. Parenteau has been the Devils other best option for scoring. He has two goals in his last five games and 12 total for the season.
NHL Betting Trends:
- The Total has been UNDER in five of Florida’s last five games
- New Jersey is 1-3-1 in the last five games at home
Free Florida Panthers vs. New Jersey Devils NHL Hockey Prediction:
It’s tough to pick the Panthers when the team is so depleted due to injury. However, the team still has pieces that can play and play well, and I just really don’t like New Jersey against any decent team. I say Florida gets the W.
