A great day of ACC basketball will kick off with the Florida State Seminoles heading to Coral Gables to take on the University of Miami Hurricanes.
Florida State Seminoles
It’s been an interesting season for Florida State. After starting 16-1, the Seminoles have lost three out of the last five, all by double-digits. A loss against North Carolina isn’t out of the ordinary, but the Noles were blown out by Georgia Tech by 22 points and then lost by 10 to Syracuse.
As a result of those two losses, the Seminoles were bounced from the AP Top 10 and dropped all the way to #15.

Florida State has to get back on track and it will be no easy task against a Miami team that just had a resounding victory over the North Carolina Tar Heels.
To do so, junior Dwayne Bacon will need to have a great game. He’s averaging 17.2 points this season on 45% shooting. Bacon has been solid all year but he can’t do it alone, evidenced by his 19-point performance in the loss to Syracuse.
Look for Bacon to get help from Jonathan Isaac and Xavier Rathan-Mayes, both solid scorers.
The Noles have to get back on track offensively and these three are the keys to doing so.
Miami Hurricanes
Miami is another case where you never know which team is going to show up. Will it be the team that beat UNC by 15? Or maybe it’ll be the team that lost to Wake Forest by 17?
If the home squad that beat the Heels by 15 shows up, it has a good chance to beat a Noles team that has looked absolutely demoralized over the last two games.
To beat the Noles, Miami has to continue playing its brand of lockdown defense. The Canes give up just 62.7 points per game, putting them 17th in the nation in that category.

The Hurricanes rank 14th in the nation in opponents’ total rebounds and it’s been a key part of winning games.
On offense, the Canes’ backcourt will be an absolute necessity to getting a win here. Senior Davon Reed averages 15.5 points per game on 45% shooting and his back court partner, Ja’Quan Newton averages 15.2 points on 48% shooting.
Both Reed and Newton are extremely important for generating the Miami offense and need to play well to get a victory.
CBB Betting Trends:
- Florida State is 0-5 ATS in the last five games
- The OVER is 2-3 in Miami’s last five games
Free Florida State Seminoles vs. Miami Hurricanes NCAAB Prediction:
I’m giving the edge to Florida State in this one. The team is going to play with a chip on its shoulder after two bad losses and being bounced from the Top 10. The Seminoles get the W here.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: Florida State +1
Miami has been trending upward after that UNC victory, while Florida State is rightfully trending downward after two bad losses. However, I think the Seminoles win this game and, by proxy, cover the spread.
NCAAB Free Score Prediction: Florida State 76 – Miami 71
