Hold your horses’ folks — the Eastern Conference semi-finals between the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets are all tied up moving to a best of three to determine the series.
The Game 3 victory seemingly broke the lid that was on the basket as Milwaukee finally resembled a closer version of the team they’d been the majority of the season winning 107-96 in Game 4.
Some will point to Kyrie Irving going down at 5:52 of the second quarter as to why the Bucks won but they were already leading by four points although it felt like they should’ve been up by double-digits.

Milwaukee Bucks
If there was a checklist of items Mike Budenholzer had for Game 4 it would be a good bet he left Fiserv Forum with a page full of checkmarks.
They started the game hot from deep but finished shooting 34 percent which is still well below their typical effort (38.9%) but the 16 triples were a far cry from the 6 of 34 (19.4%) they shot in Game 3.
More importantly, several Bucks were active offensively with PJ Tucker (13 points, seven rebounds) and Jrue Holiday (14 points, nine assists) each affecting the game and providing stellar defense.
Pat Connaughton provided a much-needed bench spark while Brook Lopez offered rim protection and 11 rebounds.
That Giannis Antetokounmpo led the way with a double-double of 34 points and 12 rebounds was expected, yet even their superstar was back to driving the ball and getting out in transition.
A big reason for the Bucks’ revitalized offense was sparked from transition offense where they held a 20 to 6 fast break scoring advantage.
Turnovers were the other huge advantage as Milwaukee scored 25 points off 17 Nets turnovers compared to the Nets 13 points scored off 14 Bucks turnovers.
Brooklyn Nets
Irving’s injury was gnarly as replays showed his ankle literally turning over to touch the hardwood.
Given Irving’s injury history it would be hard to imagine he’ll be able to recover from a sprain that severe in two days especially since he left Fiserv Form in a walking boot and on crutches.
Kevin Durant shot 9 for 25 and 1 of 8 from deep but registered a double-double of 28 points and 13 rebounds plus five assists.
As noted PJ Tucker was huge defensively applying physical pressure holding KD to 3 of 12 as his primary defender. Middleton (2 of 4), Holiday (2 of 5), and the rest of the Bucks (2 of 4) kept him to 50 percent or less.
Several Nets struggled to find their range with Joe Harris and Blake Griffin both shooting 3 of 8 for eight points. Oddly, Griffin who has played the role of instigator left the game at 7:03 of the third quarter and never checked back in.
A big advantage for Brooklyn was their bench performance as they outscored Milwaukee 34 to 21.

Free Milwaukee Bucks vs. Brooklyn Nets NBA Prediction:
UPDATED: Steve Nash implied Sunday that Harden had several more stages to clear and therefore presumed to be out Game 5. But, per Adrian Wojnarowski (tweet above) he participated in shoot-around and wants to give it a go. Subsequently, he was upgraded from doubtful to questionable.
That shifts the dynamic for Game 5 dramatically! First of all, how will the refs call this game if he returns? The NBA has just come out saying they are going to revamp rules regarding players who jump back or sideways into players to draw ticky-tack fouls (like Harden and Trae Young utilize almost as much as they attempt unfettered field goals). Half the games in this series have allowed old-school defense but if Harden returns it could result in a steady stream of Harden and KD to the free-throw line.
While my original post noted all the momentum has shifted in favor of the Bucks a return of the bearded one shifts the pendulum back toward the Nets. I’m sticking with the Bucks to win because it’s not a certainty Harden will play. Also of note – with this news, the spread and total score changed (also adjusted above).
