Wednesday, January 20th, the Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors will play for the first time this season.
Last season, the squads played three times with the Heat winning two of the three contests. Miami holds the all-time record between the squads with 54 victories in the team’s 89 meetings.

COVID-19 has affected many squads in the NBA and the Heat are one of those clubs. They’ve been trying to battle without the services of Jimmy Butler and Avery Bradley but struggling with so much of their core missing.
They snapped a three-game losing streak with a win over the Pistons in their last game that required a 19 point come from behind victory.
In the win, Bam Adebayo put the team on his back posting a double-double of 28 points and 11 rebounds with five assists.
With Tyler Herro out due to neck spasms, Goran Dragic got the start scoring 22 points. Duncan Robinson and Kendrick Nunn each scored 18 points as the other double-figure contributors.
Butler and Bradley won’t play Wednesday as they continue to go through the health and safety protocols. Herro is questionable and Meyers Leonard (shoulder) is out.
Toronto Raptors
What began as the worst season for the Raptors in the past seven years has a glimmer of hope.
Although they’d like to have another shot at shifting the outcome of those consecutive one-point losses that seemed to be the turning point.
Since then the Raptors have won three in a row and seemingly figured out how to navigate their system without either of the signed free agent big men factoring.
To wit, the Raptors released Alex Len at the start of this week and Aron Baynes continues to get very little playing time.
That Chris Boucher continues to put up numbers is playing a factor but the Raptors are using Pascal Siakam at the five in clutch time because of his ability to defend via switches whereas Boucher is better suited to man to man coverage.
Although the Raptors could easily be even on the season they’ll look to take advantage of the Heat being shorthanded to get closer to that marker with the two games on tap.
The latest victory was their most complete effort of the season featuring a 116-93 victory versus the Mavericks.
Kyle Lowry led the way with 23 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists while Boucher (21 points 10 rebounds) and OG Anunoby (13 points, 11 rebounds) each delivered double-doubles.
Pascal Siakam (19) and Norman Powell (17) were the other double-figure contributors
