The Memphis Grizzlies did a great job shutting down Utah in their last outing, coming away victors with the final score 102-95, while the Phoenix Suns weren’t as lucky coming away on the losing end of a tough loss to the Denver Nuggets (final score 123-112.)

The Memphis Grizzlies were looking like they might come up on the short end of things as they trailed at some points in the game. However, their excellent defense on All-Star forward Gordon Hayward was what ultimately allowed them to get the slight edge over Utah.

Hayward shot just 4/13 from the field, and 0/3 from deep. Holding him to such a poor shooting performance really helped separate the Grizzlies in the end, but the scoring Gasol, Conley and Randolph brought also helped.
Mike Conley and Zach Randolph led the team with 23 points and 28 points apiece, while Marc Gasol poured in 18 points while going 4/5 from behind the arc. But if they’re to win again the teams going to need another performance like this of all three of them.

Phoenix plays with a high pace, so this is going to be a high scoring affair between the two teams. That means Memphis has got to bring some semblance of scoring in order to pull out the win.
Phoenix Suns
The Phoenix Suns were just a disaster in their lasting outing against the Denver Nuggets. The team continued to trail almost all night, and at one point they even allowed Denver to get up by 20 points.
That’s just unacceptable if the team plans on competing for a spot in the playoffs, I mean you can just lay down to a team like Denver.
The Nuggets are one of the teams Phoenix is competing with in order to clinch that eighth and final seed in the Western Conference playoff picture.
Yet, somehow the Suns just came out with little to no effort right from the opening tip.
The got outscored 74-50 through the second and third quarter. That awful play put them behind, and they couldn’t recover after that. So this game they’ve got to make sure they don’t do the same thing.
Phoenix has got to bring it for a full 48 minutes of action if they’re to win games. You can’t expect to pick and choose which quarters you’re going to play with effort, because that’s not going to get you wins.

So that means against Memphis the Phoenix Suns better be ready to bring it for the full four quarters of play, otherwise they’re going to be taking another “L” once again.
