Friday, April 1st. the LA Clippers play the Milwaukee Bucks for the second and final time this season. Milwaukee won the initial meeting between the clubs 137-113 on February 6th.
The Clippers played the front side of a back-to-back set losing 130-135 in overtime to the Bulls while the Bucks are also completing a back-to-back set having won 120-119 in an overtime thriller versus the Nets.
Last season, the teams played twice with each team winning on their home court. The Bucks hold the all-time record having bested the Clippers in 69 of their 122 matches.
LA Clippers
The second game back for Paul George wasn’t as successful as the first with the Clippers falling prey to something they’ve become masters at — erasing double-digit leads.
The Clippers were up by 16 points in the third but couldn’t hold off the Bulls or more accurately DeMar DeRozan who made up for a missed free throw at game end by scoring 10 points in overtime on route to a 50 point evening.
George offered 22 points along with four rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
It was his second game back after missing 43 and surprisingly he’s not being held out in a back-to-back unless they haven’t updated the injury report. Although Ty Lue did not play him in the overtime frame.
Reggie Jackson was the top Clipper scorer with 34 points and seven assists. Marcus Morris Sr. (20 points), Nicolas Batum (17 points), Ivica Zubac (11 points), and Luke Kennard (11 points) were the other double-figure contributors.
Brandon Boston (illness) is questionable for Friday versus the Bucks. Jason Preston (foot), Norman Powell (foot), and Leonard (knee) are out indefinitely. Jay Scrubb (toe) is lost for the season.
Milwaukee Bucks
In case there was any questions regarding who are among the best players in the NBA, Giannis Antetokounmpo made sure his name is among those under consideration with his second outstanding performance in as many games.
The star became the all-time leading scorer with the Bucks in the win over the Nets passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He also did it with panache by hitting a critical late-game 3-pointer and drained both free throws at the end of regulation to force overtime.
Antetokounmpo finished with a double-double of 44 points and 14 rebounds along with six assists and a steal plus got to the charity stripe 19 times swishing 15 of them.
His scoring was much-needed on this night since Khris Middleton was ejected for a flagrant foul but scored 16 points before his exit. Jrue Holiday was spectacular scoring 19 points, grabbing eight rebounds, dishing four dimes, and snaring six big steals.
Wes Matthews and Pat Connaughton each chipped in 11 points.
De’Andre Bembry (knee) is out indefinitely and the only player on the Bucks listed as out.

While the Clippers can’t gain or lose ground from their eighth seed given they have padding on either side the Bucks are still in a war for the top seed in the East. They trail the Heat by a half-game and are 1.5 games up on the Celtics and two games on the 76ers.
Some teams at the top seem to be trying to position themselves to avoid the Nets which is tricky unless they commit to dropping to the third seed but the Bucks aren’t a club that shies away from competition.
That said, it makes the most sense to try to earn the top seed since Brooklyn will likely win the first play-in match, although that’s not guaranteed either given the Nets, Hornets, and Hawks all have identical 40-37 records.
Since both teams played on Thursday and required overtime neither club has an advantage although Middleton will have fresh legs. I like the Bucks to win but if George is playing I like the Clippers and the points.
LA is 4-8 in second games of back-to-back sets and the Bucks are 7-5 having won the last four.
