The door is now wide open in the Big 12 for TCU as they get set to take on the Mountaineers for a Thursday night clash.
TCU comes in 7-0 and come in off a bye after knocking off Iowa State 45-21 in Ames.
The Mountaineers go from one high flying offense to another as they were dropped by Baylor 62-38 on Saturday.
After starting the season 3-0, the Mountaineers have dropped 3 straight and now find themselves at just .500 as they try to pull off the biggest upset of the season.
While all 3 losses have come against ranked opponents, the Mountaineers latest loss was a poor defensive performance. Baylor ran up 62 points on West Virginia as they fell 62-38.
Offensively though, West Virginia was pretty solid.
QB Skyler Howard finished 18 of 37 with 289 yards to go along with 4 touchdowns and just 1 pick. Howard’s 4 TDs kept the Mountaineers in the game for about 2.5 quarters, but the defense couldn’t offer any support. Howard’s interception problems continues though.
While he threw just 1 pick, he’s now thrown at least 1 in 4 straight games.
The offensive line has been a struggle this year for West Virginia. Skyler Howard has been sacked a conference leading 19 times.
Expect Howard to be on his top game as Thursday nights contest will feature him back in his home town.
The door has never been more wide open for the TCU Horned Frogs heading into Week 9. After Baylor’s 62-38 win over West Virginia came at a costly price as QB Seth Russell was announced with a broken neck following the game. Now, Baylor will be without their star QB for the remainder of the season.
While TCU still has a couple weeks ahead of them till Baylor week, TCU has a legit chance to represent the Big 12 in the BCS Playoff should they win out.
QB Trevone Boykin continues to lead an impressive offense as his Heisman resume keeps on growing.
Boykin finished last week 27 of 32 for 436 yards with 4 touchdowns. Boykin has led the Horned Frogs offense to over 600 yards on 5 separate occasions this season.
The success comes from staying on the field on third downs. The Horned Frogs are averaging a 55.8 completion rate on third downs, which is 1st in the Big 12.
TCU is 9-1 ATS in their last 10 at home.

Free Week 9 NCAA Football Prediction
TCU is just rolling right now. The opening number of just 14 here is actually quite shocking. West Virginia is no pushover by any means as their 3-3 record is skewed due to ranked opponents, but the Horned Frogs offense is just too much right now.

TCU’s Trevone Boykin shines on the national spotlight once again as TCU rolls over West Virginia at home.
