The defense really struggled for these guys this year. Allowing the Jayahwks to have success on offense should tell you everything you need to know about this unit. They will have their hands full when they go against a balanced offense in Minnesota.
Minnesota Golden Gophers
In a loaded Big Ten conference, I thought that Minnesota had a very good year. They should be proud of the way they played this year.
The Golden Gophers beat their rival out of the Big Ten West, the Wisconsin Badgers on their last game of the regular season by a score of 23-13. That was a very impressive win for them, considering they were dogs in that ball game.
Tanner Morgan was not asked to throw the ball all that much in the win over the Badgers. He finished the day 11/16 for 199 yards with 1 touchdown pass and 1 pick. Overall, he had a solid season.
In their last game, the offense was really not the focal point. Sure, they scored some points, but for the most part, the Wisconsin defense did a very good job against them.
I really liked the way this defense played all year long. Even against the very good teams, this unit held its own. I expect them to play well when they go against the Mountaineers.
