A major Pac 12 battle takes place Saturday afternoon as the Washington State Cougars take on the Arizona Wildcats.
Washington State has tallied consecutive victories over Oregon and Oregon State as they look to continue their push up the Pac 12 standings.
Arizona used a big 2nd half to pull away from Colorado as they struggled for about 2.5 quarters before finding their offensive groove.
The Cougars are finding more success due to their improved defensive play. Washington State is allowing 416.8 yards and 29.2 points per game through their first 7 games. That is a giant improvement for Mike Leech and his defense as the Cougars have typically lacked any sort of stability defensively.
Another major reason for success this season has been QB Luke Falk.
Falk highlight the Cougars win last time out as he finished with 407 yards on 39 of 50 passing and tossed 6 touchdowns in the win. WR Dom Williams has been his go to target as he had 11 receptions for 158 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
The duo has led the Cougars to the 4th ranked passing offense with 398.5 pass yards per game. They also rank 36th in scoring with 35 points per game.
Falk has passed for 2371 yards and completed 72.3 percent of his passes.
The Wildcats have opened up a QB controversy as they head into their matchup with Washington State.
QB Soloman Anu returned from injury and just didn’t seem to gain any traction against a weak defense in Colorado. He was replaced by Jerrard Randall in the contest and head coach Rich Rodriguez is yet to name a starter.
Luckily for them, the run game was very successful last week. RB Jared Baker came in for injured Nick Wilson and made a serious impact. Baker rushed for 207 yards on 23 carries. He averaged 9.0 yards per carry and led the 2nd half charge.
The defense has been major problem for Arizona though. The Wildcats defense ranks 93rd in total yards allowed, 91st against the pass, and 90th in points against. The points against is obviously the worst problem to have as they allow 30.6 points per game.
With Scooby Wright already out, the defense could get much worse as DaVonte’ Neal injured his hamstring last weekend.

Free Week 8 NCAA Football Prediction
With the questions surrounding the QB spot in Arizona and how bad their defense is, things could be tough on Arizona come Saturday. With the way QB Luke Falk is playing, he has the chance to really pick apart the secondary, especially if DaVonte’ Neal is out.
