When Washington and Oregon square-off on Saturday at the always raucous Autzen Stadium the No. 5 Huskies will be looking to end a 12-game losing streak against Oregon, one that has kept Washington from having that breakthrough in the Northwest.
And with an Oregon team that has yet to find any defense and is unsure about its quarterback, that streak may just come to an end.
But don’t count Oregon out just yet as they know what is on the line and have plenty of talent on the perimeter that could make this the most heated rivalry game between the two teams in recent memory. (Can we really call this a rivalry though? LOL)
No matter what, Saturday night in Eugene is going to be fun.
A weak non-conference schedule combined with a so-so matchup against Arizona in Washington’s Pac-12 opener had college football pundits across the nation still wondering whether or not the Huskies were the real deal.
Any questions were answered last week, however, as Washington punched Stanford in the mouth en route to an emphatic victory that vaulted the Huskies to No. 5 in the poll.
With many in Seattle now thinking about the college football playoff, the pressure is on Washington to perform, something they haven’t done against the Ducks in 13 years.
But with what is perhaps the nation’s top defensive front and a talented offense, the Huskies look poised for a big win over their rivals to the South.
Oregon has had their way with Washington recently but that streak may come to an end on Saturday night, as the Ducks look to be in disarray after three straight losses, the last of which came at the hands of a Washington State team that had previously lost to Eastern Washington in the season.
The problem with the Ducks isn’t just their defensive ineptitude, their offense isn’t clicking as well and may seek to find an answer by throwing true freshman QB Justin Herbert into the proverbial fire against a tenacious Washington defense.
That being said, Oregon still has a ton of speed and talent on the perimeter and could very well put up quite the fight against the Huskies.

Free Week 6 NCAA Football Prediction
They say anything can happen in rivalry games and I truly believe that the fact that this game is at Autzen Stadium will play a significant role in the outcome.
And yes, that is a call for the Ducks to pull off a nice upset on Saturday.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Oregon +9
Does an Oregon win mean the Ducks will bounce back in 2016 and reclaim their season? Not exactly.
A huge part of the win for the Ducks will be that rivalry atmosphere at home that should give them some nice tempo and momentum to build from.
I expect a relatively high-scoring affair that features quite a bit of back-and-forth play. Ducks take one from the Huskies.
