The Virginia Cavaliers fly into North Carolina riding a high, after obliterating Coastal Carolina by a 48-7 score. Luckily for the Wolfpack, they also managed to win in week 1, but only by a 24-17 margin, behind a strong running game.
Surprisingly, NC State comes in as the home favorite, despite contrasting week 1. With that being said, the Wolfpack played a slightly tougher Pirates team in the first week and are 5-2 in their last seven matchups against Virginia.

After a great start to the season, can the Cav’s keep it rolling against a more superior squad? If Chandler Morris keeps up his impressive dual threat game, they definitely could upset the Wolfpack at home.
Although, they haven’t beat North Carolina since 2012, they just barely lost by a 24-21 score in their last outing back in 2023.
With all that being said, Virginia ended their season last year losing 6 out of their last 7 games, and if they can pick up this upset win on Saturday, they’ve already boosted their odds of a playoff season tenfold.

Importantly, Virginia’s QB Chandler Morris beautifully slung the ball for 264 yards and 2 touchdowns on 19 of 27 completed passes in week one. To add to this, top receiver Cam Ross caught 7 receptions for 124 yards and 1 touchdown.
Furthermore, The Cavaliers allowed 6 different running backs to attempt to run the ball, as well as QB Morris’ 50 yards on 2 attempts. Additionally, RB Taylor scored two touchdowns on his rushing attempts.
While it’s a feat to have that many running backs contribute, it also shows Virginia’s inability to muster up their starting backs before the season, as they are clearly still testing a few backs.
NC State Wolfpack
After a win in week 1, NC State looks to improve their play in week 2, as they only covered about half the expected spread of 13.5 and fell short of expectations.
Unfortunately, the Wolfpacks season last year was in shambles as well, but they expect to start this year off strong and hopefully get to 2-0 against a lightning hot Cavaliers squad.

Quarterback CJ Bailey started the season off strong with a QBR of 154. He managed this with an elite 70.6 completion percentage via 24 receptions out of 34 attempts and 2 touchdowns.
Bailey also ran for 21 yards on 7 attempts and managed to get in the end zone on his feet.
Importantly, Receiver Wesley Grimes completed 4 receptions for a monstrous 121 yards and 1 touchdown. Also, running back Smothers, smothered the defense with 22 attempts, 76 yards and 1 touchdown.
If CJ and Grimes keep up their next-level gameplay, they can become a tough task for anyone in college football.
