Utah State just finished up one of their best seasons in program history at 10-3, but oddsmakers still aren’t buying in making the Aggies a TD underdog when they play Oregon State (7-5) in the LA Bowl at SoFi Stadium.
The Beavers definitely had the edge in quality of opponents, managing to get through the Pac 12 with a 5-4 conference record. OSU has a win over #10 Utah this season so they definitely have upside in this game.
Utah State Aggies
Utah State is not a team to be messed with as they won 7 of their last 8 games down the stretch including a dominant 46-13 win over then #19 San Diego State to win the Mountain West.
That was the first conference championship game win for the Aggies in two appearances, and they were powered by who else but Logan Bonner who had his second straight 300+ yard game and finished the regular season with 9 TD passes to 1 INT.
Bonner led Utah to the #16 passing attack in the country this year, and his 3,560 passing yards this season are 12th most in the country. In their last game of the regular season, Oregon State allowed Oregon QB Anthony Brown to have a very easy 23/28 passing, with 275 yards and 2 TD.
Oregon State Beavers
While Utah State is going to throw the ball in this contest, Oregon State will likely rely on their ground attack behind 1,200+ yard rusher B.J. Baylor. The Junior has big game potential as he has 145+ yards rushing in four of the last nine games.
The Aggies just allowed 148 yards rushing to San Diego State in the Mountain West Championship game so there is some potential for Oregon State to have success on the ground in the LA Bowl.
Make no mistake, the Beavers can throw the ball as well. QB Chance Nolan had 308 yards passing in the loss to Oregon in the regular season finale and has multiple TD passes in four of the last six games.

Free New Mexico Bowl NCAA Football Pick
Utah State is playing pretty well down the stretch, with a hiccup against Wyoming (44-17) being their only loss since week 5. The Aggies can seemingly score at will, putting up 35+ points in five of their last six games during the regular season.
The Beavers are going to have their hands full with this passing attack, although the extra time to game plan will be an asset. That being said it wouldn’t have been a shock to even see the Aggies favored here, despite the Mountain West and Pac-12 obviously having different levels of competition.
4* Free New Mexico Bowl NCAA Betting Pick: Utah State +7
Bonner is a stud, and it would be no shock if he led the Aggies to an outright win in this spot.
