The UNLV Rebels sit alone in the MWC West Division basement at 0 – 4 with a 2 – 6 record overall, and that tells us that unless they win out there will be no post-season appearance for a 6th consecutive season. Head Coach Tony Sanchez is in his 5th year with the program and he has yet to win more than 5 games in any of those years.
The Rebels will try to find a 3rd win when they head to Fort Collins to take on the Colorado State Rams this Saturday, although the home team is listed as 8.5-point favorites for this affair. After shaking off their 4-game losing skid the Rams have now won the last 2 games and are eyeing a bowl bid should they finish the year strong. At 3 – 5 and 2 – 2 in conference play, the Rams need to close out the last 4 games with some attitude to avoid back-to-back losing seasons under head coach Mike Bobo.

UNLV Rebels
The Rebels know the odds are against them as the regular season starts to near a close, and a visit to Fort Collins to face the Rams might not help matters with their recent history against Colorado Stata. UNLV has lost 10 of the last 12 meetings with the Rams while also losing their last 6 games in this building, and then the line setters come out and offer the +8.5 points towards a Rams win to boot!
UNLV put up a good fight last weekend against San Diego State, but a 20 – 17 loss still goes in the books as a simple L when the W column needs some boosting. Head Coach Tony Sanchez only won 4 games last season in year #4 in Las Vegas and year five certainly doesn’t point to a winning season thus far.
Will the possible return of Armani Rogers help this weekend? Well, he is listed as probable after missing a month so maybe he can instill some confidence in this offense. They certainly need some inspiration to come and quick, being that this is the 94th ranked passing game in the nation for a team that only puts up 24 points a game (96th).
Kenyon Oblad did what he could to ease the absence of Rogers, but Oblad has zero ability to influence the run game as Rogers does. Hopefully, the Rebels can get Rogers back in a groove to test the Rams defense that ranks 112th in the country allowing 34 PPG.

Colorado State Rams
While the Rams defense may not be all that in sync in 2019, the passing offense has found its way through 8 games this season. Colorado State ranks 9th in the land putting up 319.5 YPG through the air, and they rank 19th in the country in total yards per contest averaging 473.9 YPG.
Junior QB Patrick O’Brien has been sacked a bunch, but he has still managed to put up 1.716 passing yards with completions to 15 different pass catchers.
The Rams are relatively balanced as well, with 16 TD through the air and 14 on the ground as Marvin Kinsey Jr. is up to 703 rushing yards on 121 carries averaging 5.8 yards a pop. Not bad, but yet all of this has not resulted in wins this season for the Rams who desperately need this home win because of what is on deck for Colorado State too.
Should the Rams lose this weekend, they have Air Force, Wyoming, and Boise State on the schedule for the last 3 games of the regular season. None of those will seem likely to result in a win should they fail this weekend at home as considerable favorites, so that puts even more pressure on Mike Bobo and his staff.
NCAA Football Handicapping Trends
- The home team is 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings.
- Over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
- Rebels are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings.
- Rebels are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 meetings in Colorado State.

The play goes in towards this total, as the return of Armani Rogers should help produce some offense that UNLV has simply lacked in his absence.
I see this as a little closer than the experts think too, but I will not get into the spread because I like the total a bit more.
The Over is a little up there at 65, but that also tells me the line setters feel like we should see a good bit of scoring in Fort Collins this weekend.
I see this as a 39 – 30 type of game, which is again why that -8.5 seems a little tricky to me. OF course, one stupid mistake can make this, or any game for that matter, get out of control, and I hope it does! Give me those points however they come and cash me out a ticket on this total to topple the number!
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: The Line shows the Rams at -8.5 with a 65 on the total.
