An AAC matchup is going down on Saturday night with the UCF Golden Knights hosting the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at the Bounce House in Orlando, Florida.
The Knights come into the matchup as the #11 ranked team in the AP polls this week. Tulsa will try to upset UCF for the third consecutive year in a row. The Hurricane has had the Knights number over the last few years but we will see who gets the best of one and other on Saturday night.
Tulsa Golden Hurricane
Tulsa’s last game was canceled due to a COVID breakout on the Arkansas State Red Wolves team, which means Phil Montgomery’s team will be well-rested coming into this one. The Golden Hurricane struggled in their home opener against Oklahoma State. The offense managed just seven points against a weak Big-12 defense.
Zac Smith completed 18 of 28 passes for 165 yards to go with one touchdown and one interception. Zac Johnson was the leading receiver for the team with 67 yards and a touchdown on the day.
Unfortunately for Tulsa, they will be without feature running back Shamari Brooks, who suffered an ACL injury to his knee in practice on Tuesday. Brooks, who currently sits fifth on Tulsa’s all-time rushing list finished last season with 1,046 yards and six rushing touchdowns. That kind of production will hard to replace but hopefully, someone will be up to the task.

Defensively, Tulsa really rose the occasion facing a ranked Oklahoma State team. The defense gave up just three points until the fourth quarter when a Freshman QB came in a made a couple of lucky throws. All together the Hurricane defensive front held the nations leading rusher from last season to just 86 yards and maintained the OK State team to just 284 total yards.
UCF Golden Knights
UCF will try to move to 3-0 for the fourth consecutive season, but this time they have to go through the Hurricanes to get them there. Tulsa has been UCF’s kryptonite for the last few seasons defeating them on multiple occasions.
The Knights have been pumping opposing teams defenses this season. They have amassed over 600 total yards of offense in both games they have played. UCF’s offensive attack is headlined by sophomore QB Dillion Gabriel. After a fantastic Freshman season, Gabriel is already back to slinging the rock like there was no time off. He has completed 59 of 88 passes this season for 825 yards to go with his eight touchdowns and an interception.
Josh Heupel’s squad is a middle of the road team when it comes to defense surrendering an average of 24.5 points a game through two contests. UCF doesn’t particularly worry about how their defense is doing as long as their offense is putting up astronomical numbers. The Knights do have a pretty nice run defense this season surrendering an average of 234.5 yards per game on the ground.

Free Week 5 NCAA Football Pick:
I think Tulsa will be able to keep this game close enough to cover the 21.5. The Golden Hurricane struggled to score in their last game, but they did have an extra week to prepare for this contest. Look out for them to have a pretty good idea of what they want to do on the offensive attack and get on the board early. Also, UCF has not beaten Tulsa in three years, so they technically have the advantage straight up in this one. Give me Tulsa to cover though as I’m not going to waste my time on the money line.
