The Famous Idaho Potato bowl is going down on a Tuesday afternoon in Boise, Idaho with the Nevada Wolfpack and the Tulane Green Wave coming to town. The Green Wave sits as 2.5 point favorites over the Wolfpack even though they hold the worse record.
Nevada is coming off a 30-20 loss to San Jose State on December 11th, while Tulane took down Memphis in their last battle 35-21.
Tulane Green Wave
After starting the season 2-4, the Green Wave finished strong winning four of their last five games. The Wave will try to win its third consecutive bowl with a win over the Wolfpack on Tuesday.
Quarterback Michael Pratt struggled to start his college campaign, but the freshman has rebounded very nicely and should be a threat for years to come in the AAC. He has thrown for 1,638 yards, completing 55.9% of his passes for 18 touchdowns and five interceptions this year. Pratt is ranked 6th in the conference in passing but he has only started 9 of the 11 games this season.
Tulane is ranked 22nd in the nation on offense averaging 35.4 points per game. The running game has been the leading force for the wave, ranking 18th in the country with 219.5 yards per game. Stephon Huderson leads the team with 721 rushing yards on 6.1 yards per carry and has four scores to his credit. Cameron Carroll leads the team with 11 rushing touchdowns and is second with 621 rushing yards on 5.5 yards per attempt.
The Green Wave’s defense has been better against the run than the pass this season, ranking 39th in the country with 138 yards per game allowed on the ground. Tulane’s pass defense is ranked 115th in the FBS as they allow 279.4 yards per game in the air. Tulane needs to utilize their pass rushers upfront to be able to get home and disrupt the air raid attack that Nevada likes to use offensively.
Nevada Wolfpack
The Nevada Wolfpack will try to cap off a strong 2020 campaign with a bowl win over Tulane. The Wolfpack fell just short of the conference championship as they couldn’t take care of business in the second half against San Jose State in their last game as the team was held scoreless for the last 30 minutes.
Sophomore QB Carson Strong proved that he may have a future in the NFL someday this season with the ability to throw the deep ball so well. Strong completed 69.4% of his passes for 2,587 yards, with 22 touchdowns and four interceptions this season. He is ranked 15th in the country in completion percentage among qualified QB’s with at least three games played this college season. Carson was also named the Mountain West Player of the Year earlier this week so it goes to show the potential the kid has.
Defensively the Wolfpack are 32nd in the nation against the run allowing 130.8 yards per game and 87th against the pass allowing an average of 248.5 yards.

Free Famous Idaho Potato Bowl NCAA Football Pick
I think that Tulane has the defense to be able to slow down the Nevada air raid attack.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Tulane -2.5 / Bonus: Lean over 57
Give me Tulane to cover the number and get the win over the Wolfpack. Even though the Green Wave will be short-handed defensively due to some key opt-outs on the defensive front, I still think they have good enough rushers to be able to put pressure on Nevada QB Carson Strong. When Strong is pressured he tends to make a bunch of mistakes, so if the pressure is able to get home through the Nevada offensive line then Tulane should be in good shape to cover this game.
