The Oklahoma Sooners ran all over the Bruins last week at UCLA. Oklahoma was up 34-7 at the half and went on to win the game 48-14. They picked up an impressive 26 first downs in the contest, moving the chains on four of nine third-down opportunities while converting their only attempt on fourth down.
The Sooners were able to move the ball with ease, picking up 611 total yards in the game. They tossed the ol pigskin for 302 yards while running for 309 with an average of 7.5 yards per carry.
Defensively, Oklahoma held UCLA to just 311 yards. The Bruins completed 15 of 26 passes for 201 yards while keeping the ball on the ground for 110.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts was a beast, completing 15 of 20 for 289 yards and three scores. He was also the leading rusher for Oklahoma, running 14 times for a buck 50 and a rushing touchdown. Charleston Rambo was his go-to receiver with five grabs for 116 yards and two touchdowns of his own. On defense, both Tre Brown and Ryan Jones had an interception.
Oklahoma has been able to light up the scoreboard for 55.7 points per game while giving up just 19.7 points. They average 676.7 total yards with 352 coming through the air and 324 on the ground. Let’s be honest for a minute, here. With those numbers, what the defense is doing isn’t nearly important.
