Until Saturday afternoon, no one outside the Texas A&M football program will know who is starting at quarterback. Coach Kevin Sumlin has said that he will wait until Saturday afternoon to announce it.

On the other sideline, the Commodores seemed to have made their decision at quarterback. Freshman Kyle Shurmur played the entire game last week in the win against Kentucky and should be back out there against the Aggies on Saturday afternoon.
Texas A&M
Whether it is Kyler Murray or Kyle Allen, the Aggies will have a quarterback capable of making plays. After all, they are 7-3 so the struggle at quarterback hasn’t gotten in the way too much.
The three losses are all to conference foes but that doesn’t mean they’re excusable.
Clearly, Sumlin and the A&M coaching stuff has felt that neither has done enough to secure the job. If the Aggies want to keep this season as a worthy one, they’ll need one of these two guys to step up in their last two games – both on the road.
While Vanderbilt has been a bottom dweller of the SEC for years, they have shown they can compete with the top of the conference.
The Aggies defense has struggled at time this season – surrendering 28 and 26 points to South Carolina and Auburn, respectively. Both offenses have had their fair share of struggles this season.
The defense shouldn’t have too much of a problem this week as Vanderbilt sports one of the worst offenses in the country.

To make sure they don’t get upset at Vanderbilt, they will need to capitalize on their chances.
Vanderbilt’s defense is very good so missed opportunities will haunt the Aggies. The weakness of the Vanderbilt offense could leave the Aggies with good field positions.
They need to capitalize and not leave the red zone without points.
Whether it is Allen or Murray, they’ll have their hands full with the Commodore defense. They should hope that the Aggie defense can step up against the freshman Shurmur.
Vanderbilt
The Commodores may have found their guy in the freshman quarterback. Shurmur will be tested again this week against a bigger SEC name than Kentucky.
Despite the QB carousel happening in College Station, the Aggies quarterbacks are both solid. Shurmur can’t go out and try to go blow for blow with whoever starts at quarterback for Texas A&M.
Shurmur needs to play smart and simple and control the tempo of the game. The Vanderbilt defense has been great so providing them with rest will only make them even more dominant.
If the Commodores can control the clock, they will have a chance to upset the Aggies at home.
However, Shurmur is just a freshman and hardly a polished playmaker. He will be prone to mistakes and that could put the Commodores into a hole.

With two wins, Vanderbilt could play themselves into a bowl game. Yes, you read that correctly Vanderbilt could be in a bowl game. It won’t be an easy task either week with their rival Tennessee waiting for them the following week.
Shurmur will need to be cool, calm, and collected if the Commodores want to pull this one out.
