The 2016 regular season will close with an SEC East showdown in the Music City. The #17 Tennessee Volunteers will travel to Nashville for the 111th matchup against their instate rivals, the Vanderbilt Commodores.
The Vols hold a 75-30-5 lead in the all-time series and defeated the Commodores handily last year 53-28.
Things did not go as planned for Tennessee this year, but they have won three straight coming into this one.
They demolished the Missouri Tigers last week, winning 63-37 in Knoxville.

The Commodores have surprised many people this year, particularly with the outstanding play of their defense.
Perhaps their most impressive win of the season came last week as they soundly defeated Ole Miss 38-17.
Tennessee Volunteers
The Vols were the popular pick to win the SEC East coming into the 2016, but those plans were derailed by multiple injuries to key players on defense and an underwhelming, under-performing offense.
A shocking loss to South Carolina in Week 11 was the final nail in the coffin for their hopes of reaching the championship game.
However, they have picked up their play– particularly on the offensive side of the ball– since the loss and are finally looking like the team fans were waiting for all year.

Senior quarterback Josh Dobbs is the unquestioned leader of the offense, and he is one of the most dynamic QB’s in the SEC. Dobbs has passed for 2,315 yards and 24 touchdowns with 12 interceptions.
He also leads the team in rushing with 660 yards and nine scores on the ground.
The Vols average 430.1 yards and 36.5 points per game.
They are improving on the other side of the ball as key defenders return to the lineup, but they have still been unable to stop the run in several games.
They allow 446.7 yards per game, and 237.9 of those are on the ground.
Vanderbilt Commodores
Early in the year, it looked as though it was going to be another typical Vandy season in Nashville.
The Commodores lost four of their first six games, but a 17-16 upset over Georgia on the road seemed to be the turning point.
Although they are still in 6th place in the SEC East, they have taken huge strides and look like a dangerous team in the future.

The Vanderbilt defense has become one of the more elite units in the conference.
They allow only 401.3 yards per game and rank 23rd in the nation in scoring defense with 21.5 points per game.
Unfortunately, they also average 21.5 points per game on offense which is 118th in FBS.
Junior running back Ralph Webb is the centerpiece of the offense, running for 1,058 yards, 10 touchdowns and averaging 5.1 yards per carry.

Free Week 13 NCAA Football Prediction
Both teams have a lot to play for this week. The Commodores need a win to gain bowl eligibility, and the Volunteers could win a bid for the Cotton Bowl with a victory.
Vanderbilt has improved greatly this season, but Tennessee is just too powerful for them on both sides of the ball.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Tennessee -7.5
The Volunteers offense has looked much smoother, quicker and more efficient as of late, and they are finally getting healthy on defense.
These are two teams that are headed in the right direction, and this could soon become one of the more important rivalries in the SEC. Not yet, though.
Vols win handily.
