Tennessee Volunteers
Tennessee had a solid turnaround in Josh Heupel’s first season on Rocky Top. The Volunteers improved from 3-7 to 7-5 and finished third in the SEC East with an even 4-4 record.
Heupel totally revitalized the Volunteers offense and made them one of the most explosive in the country. Virginia Tech transfer Hendon Hooker took over the Quarterback starting spot in week 2 and never relinquished the position.
Tennessee averaged 459 yards a game which was fourth best in the conference. The unit scored 38.8 points per game which was third best in the SEC, only behind playoff teams Alabama and Georgia.
Hendon Hooker recently announced his plans to return to Tennessee to for another year. The 6-foot-4, 218-pound senior completed 180-of-261 passes for 2,567 yards, 26 touchdowns and 3 interceptions during the 2021 season. He also added 561 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns.
Purdue Boilermakers
Purdue had one of their best seasons in recent years and finished 8-4. The Boilermakers finished right behind the 7-2 Iowa Hawkeyes in the B10 West standings and tied with Minnesota and Wisconsin at 6-3 in conference.
Purdue most notably secured a pair of huge upsets in the middle of the season. They shutdown then #2 Iowa on the road 24-7 and followed up with a 40-29 win at home over #5 MIchigan State just three weeks later. They have an FBS record 17 wins by an unranked team over a top 5 team.

4* Free Music City Bowl NCAA Betting Pick:
Its unfortunate the trend of top talent no longer playing in bowl games continues as both teams will be without some of their best players in this matchup.
Both of these teams finished their seasons strong to clinch a bowl game appearance for the first time in years. Tennessee has won their last four bowl games but haven’t won since 2017. Purdue’s last bowl appearance was the Music City Bowl in 2018 but were routed 63-16.
The Volunteers and Boilermakers both have elite passing games but David Bell isn’t playing for Purdue which is a huge loss as the teams primary playmaker. Tennessee doesn’t have any of their playmakers forgoing the ball game which lends the advantage in their favor.
Having the location edge is in Tennessee’s favor as well as their fan base travels great and they won’t have to leave the state. The home-field advantage should play a factor as the Volunteers have done well in Music City Bowl’s in the past.
Take Tennessee to win and cover this spread easy.
