The Tennessee Volunteers will be on the road to take on the Auburn Tigers as an SEC is going down at 7:00 on Saturday Night. Both these teams are coming off a week of rest after having COVID swirl through the building.
Auburn their last time out smashed LSU 48-11, while Tennessee lost to Arkansas 24-13 to bring their losing streak to four.
Tennessee Volunteers
After a quick 2-0 start to the season, the Volunteers have now dropped the following four games and sit in the basement of the SEC conference. That losing streak includes a pair of losses to Kentucky and Arkansas in games that they were favored in.
Tennessee’s offense has really struggled under QB Jarrett Guarantano, who is listed as questionable for this game with a concussion. Jeremy Pruitt will have to turn too back up Brian Maurer, who was the starter for the Vols last season before being benched later in the season. Maurer last year posted a 2:5 TD to INT ratio in the eight games he started in a freshman season.
Sophomore running back Eric Gray has been the most dynamic player on the offensive side of the ball for Tennessee, rushing for 478 yards and three touchdowns on 110 attempts. He also has caught 19 passes for 150 yards and a score.

Defensively, the Vols are in the bottom 75% of teams in the FBS. They are giving up an average of 31.5 points per game which is the fourth-worst mark in the SEC.
Volunteers will have a boatload of injuries against the Tigers and most of it is due to COVID. They will be missing: WR Dee Beckwith, DL LaTrell Bumphus, RB Carlin Fils-Aime, WR DeAngelo Gibbs, LB J.J. Peterson, TE Austin Pope, DB Shawn Shamberger, DB Alontae Taylor, RB Len’Neth Whitehead.
Auburn Tigers
Auburn is currently riding a two-game winning streak after suffering a brutal loss to South Carolina. The Tigers couldn’t get anything going against the Gamecocks, but have riding high offensively ever since. The Tigers will be hoping to get revenge from a home loss to Tennessee two years ago. They were double-digit favorites in that game as well.
Bo Nix has been playing pretty well as of late since throwing three interceptions against Carolina. Nix has completed 41 of 54 for 538 yards to go along with four touchdowns and no interceptions over that time. He also has two rushing touchdowns over the last two games.
Nix has protected the ball very well since his ball security was questioned against Carolina and that is going to be key for him as the rest of the season progresses.
The Tigers wide receiver duo of Seth Williams and Anthony Schwartz is among the best in the country. Williams has 28 catches for 511 yards, while Schwartz has 38 receptions for 422 yards.

4* Free NCAA Betting Prediction: Tennessee +11
I think that Tennessee will be able to keep this game close. Brett Maurer will be playing for the starting spot for the rest of the season if he can put up a nice performance against this ranked Auburn team. Even though they have a bunch of injuries right now, I simply don’t think this Auburn team is that good as they have played some pretty weak opponents over the last month. Auburn has struggled to play against good defenses and Tennesse has been pretty solid other than their loss to Alabama and Georgia. Give me Vols to cover the number and bounce back against the Tigers.
