TCU Horned Frogs vs. North Carolina Tar Heels Gameday
If memory serves, TCU was the first opponent of the Deion Sanders era at Colorado and now they are the first for the Tar Heels under Bill.
They lost that game against the Buffaloes even though they were favored like they are for this one.
The Horned Frogs were sneaky good last season winning 9 games and they should be a threat in the Big 12 all season long.
It is much harder to get a read on the Tar Heels, who have had so much turnover from last year to this.

At the very least, they should be well prepared. I don’t want to be negative about the previous coach who had a great career, but winning is what Bill does.
This is definitely a very interesting game to close out an exciting Week 1.
TCU Horned Frogs
TCU was a very good passing team a year ago as quarterback Josh Hoover put up very good stats, passing for over 3900 yards.
They had no balance, though, as no running back mustered even 500 yards on the ground. It will be interesting to see if anything has really changed on Monday.
I am not sure they will ever be strong on defense like they were during the Gary Patterson era, but Sonny Dykes has eight starters returning on that side of the ball, so they should be able to look good quickly.

Wide receiver Jack Bech was the primary target for Hoover, leading the team with 1,034 receiving yards on 62 receptions and hauling in 9 touchdowns before heading to the NFL.
North Carolina Tar Heels
I have to admit it is hard to know what to make of Bill Belichik’s move to college football. Yes, the game is more like the NFL than ever before but it is still very hard to see how this is going to work out.
On offense, all of the experience is on the line, which is not a bad thing. If you know for sure you have a quarterback, that is up for debate in Chapel Hill.
There is no doubt that defense has always been the coach’s specialty. The fact that the secondary is where the experience is works to his strengths.
North Carolina Tar Heels Stats
Last season, the offense was the strength of the squad, averaging 30.9 points per game, which ranked them 45th in the FBS.
The defense, on the other hand, struggled, giving up 28.1 points per game to opponents, placing them 89th nationally.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Tar Heels were potent on the ground. Running back Omarion Hampton was a dominant presence, amassing an impressive 1,660 rushing yards on 281 attempts, averaging 5.9 yards per carry and scoring 15 touchdowns.
Alas, he is now in the NFL.

This one is a simple handicap for me, the most trustworthy unit on the field tonight is the TCU offense and that should be enough to get the win.
Meanwhile, Fresno State is rebuilding under Matt Entz with QB EJ Warner leading a new-look unit, but Kansas’ defense is vulnerable enough to give them scoring chances.
Of course, taking that hook is not very enjoyable but that is the price you pay. That TCU ML does not feel very worth it.
This one might be a high scoring game and that definitely favors the Horned Frogs too, their offense has so much more continuity.
The UNC experiment with Bill may turn out to be a success but I do not like them in this opening game, even at home.
Week 1 has been mostly about leaning into the things we know we know.
