The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks have actually been pretty decent this year, but every time they play against a team of any quality they get blown out and thus we have a line hanging around -30.5 at the time of writing. This is the Lumberjacks season final, however, so do expect the most from these guys come Saturday.
It has been a season of tight finishes for the Memphis Tigers, and overall they have played some tough competition really well, so I would expect them to take care of a team like the Lumberjacks with relative ease.
Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks
The Lumberjacks are coming off of a sound win against the Pittsburg State Gorillas, by a score of 26-7, but the Lumberjacks really were gifted that game, as the Gorillas turned the ball over 3 times to 0 for Stephen F. Austin. The Gorillas and the Memphis Tigers are completely incomparable teams, but that victory should continue to give them momentum and belief heading in Saturday’s contest.
If the Lumberjacks are to cover here it will almost assuredly be because of the play of QB Trae Self who has clearly taken a step forward for this team and should be excited for the opportunity to play against top-tier competition.
Memphis Tigers
The Memphis Tigers are a really solid team who has had a pretty tough schedule and they have played it quite well in my opinion with wins over USF/UCF and their loss to SMU by only 3 points was also quite impressive.
Senior QB Brady White should be awfully excited to play against this Lumberjacks defense as he already has great stats on the year and they are likely to look a whole lot better after this one. With Memphis being favored by as many as they are I would look out for Rodrigues Clark to have a big game rushing the ball here, as he is coming off a sub-par game and will be looking to get rolling again and the Lumberjacks defense certainly presents that opportunity.
