Both South Florida and Maryland are 1-1 on the season and the Big 10 Terps are the 6.5-point favorite at home in this non-conference match up. After a season-opening upset loss to Bowling Green where Maryland gave up 48 points they scored an easy 50-21 win over Richmond in their last game.
South Florida faced a ranked Florida State squad in their last match up and while they lost by 20 points they did cover the 28.5-point spread.

Last season these 2 teams met at South Florida with the Terrapins bating the Bulls 24-17.
South Florida
In their loss to Florida State the Bulls struggled on both sides of the ball, especially in run defense where they gave up 278 yards on the ground.
The Bulls will be facing a Maryland defense that only ranks 113th in the nation after 2 games.
While the 2 key offensive players for the Bulls did not have big games facing Florida State QB Quinton Flowers and RB Marlon Mack were decent. Flowers was 12/24 for 125 yards with 2 TD and 1 INT and Mack rushed for 83 yards on 13 carries.
Maryland stuffed the run in their won over Richmond, but they still gave up 220 passing yards and in their loss to Bowling Green they gave up a whopping 491 yards in the air as well as over 200 rushing yards.

The Maryland defense has big time issues so far on the young season, but can the Bulls take advantage of that?
Maryland
Maryland does not have a great passing attack, as they lean on the run and in the win over Richmond Brandon Ross rushed for 150 yards and Ty Johnson rushed for 83 yards.
Both of these guys were non-factors in the Bowling Green loss, but they will be counted on to have a good game this Saturday.
Maryland QB Perry Ellis has 4 TD and 2 INT on the season and in the Richmond game he passed for 138 yards. He has to limit his mistakes in this game, as if he can do that and the Terps can run the ball they will come out with the W.

South Florida ranks 40th in the nation in pass defense and 66th in run defense. However, those stats may be a tad inflated since they faced Florida State last week and simply could not stop the Seminoles’ attack.

Week 3 NCAA Football Prediction
South Florida ranks 40th in the nation in pass defense and 66th in run defense. However, those stats may be a tad inflated since they faced Florida State last week and simply could not stop the Seminoles’ attack.
South Florida will be able to run the ball in this game and that will be the reason they cover the spread and win this game in an upset.
