This is a big game between two very good teams. Even though South Florida is perfect so far they have a lot of work to do. They want to maintain that record until they take on UCF at home to close the season. This is the toughest test they have left.
Houston’s only blemish this season is a loss to Texas Tech. They are in even better position than South Florida to win their division and get to the AAC title game. Their biggest challenge after this one is Memphis in the final week too.
South Florida Bulls
The Bulls have had some closer calls than expected the last couple of weeks. It took a little more than expected to put away UConn last week and they only won by a point over Tulsa the week before. Could be just a malaise but they can be better.
The offense is very well balanced and is 5th in total yards. Blake Barnett has looked mostly good at quarterback and he is enjoying getting a chance to play, finally. He has all the tools and is willing to stick his neck out to get a win.
I like this game a lot and am confident that Charlie Strong will have a good gameplan. They are going to need it too because the Cougars can run up the score on you and they have some elite defensive personnel. South Florida is in for their toughest game since they drew some attention by beating Georgia Tech.
Ed Oliver gets a lot of attention but it is the offense of the Cougars that can kill opponents. The are second in the nation in scoring and third in yards. They have not scored less than 41 points in any game this season.
D’Eriq King is a fun player to watch. In his first year as a starter he has put up awesome numbers and very impressively he is accurate and does not turn the ball over. His 23/3 ratio is very impressive and he has 9 rushing TDs too.
Ed Oliver might be an awesome pro one day but even with him this defense is getting torched. In that loss to Texas Tech they gave up 63 and they cannot slow teams down through the air at all – 130th against the pass. They have to score a lot to win.

Free Week 9 NCAA Football Pick
Houston is a pretty significant favourite in this one. I knew they would be at home but I didn’t think it would be over a touchdown. Maybe the oddsmakers are playing the market a little bit here.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: South Florida
It would be awesome if USF and UCF were both undefeated for their game later but I think the Bulls fall in this one. It should be very exciting though. They get the cover which is good for us.
I think Houston gets out early in this one but USF figures some stuff out and then presses them nearly to the end. They won’t have a chance to win it late but they will be wishing they had a few more minutes or just one more possession.
