Not many teams take such a competitive game to start their season, especially with as many first time starters the team is featuring.
Sacramento State had an impressive opening victory against Eastern Oregon, the 13th ranked team in the NAIA. They did especially well in run defense, which could prove useful in this game.
The Hornets, who hail from the FCS, beat Eastern Oregon 41-20 in their week one tilt. The receiving game was on point as receiver Shane Harrison had 8 grabs for 125 yards while Isiah Hennie had 3 catches for 47 yards and a touchdown and a punt return for a touchdown.
Quarterback Daniel Kniffin was 22 of 45 for 282 yards and 2 touchdowns. He added another 20 yards and a touchdown on the ground in a team effort than netted 203 yards.
Joey Banks had 11 tackles including 3.5 for loss and a sack while Darnell Sankey, a preseason conference All-American, registered 12 tackles, 1 for loss and a sack of his own.
The 16-13 loss to Boise State was a minor setback for the Huskies who look to get back on track against the Hornets. This week they will be looking to work on the run, where they only registered 29 yards as a group in Boise.
True freshman Jake Browning had a good showing for Washington, but had a tough time getting started. He went 20 for 25 with 150 yards and an interception. His leading target was also the starting running back in Dwayne Washington. He tallied 14 yards on the ground and 52 yards through the air.
Dante Pettis returned a punt for a touchdown, which gave Washington a big boost in their attempted comeback, also had 24 yards receiving.
Azeem Victor had 14 tackles for the Huskies while Kevin King had an interception.

Free Week 2 NCAA Football Prediction
While the Huskies have had a history of complications with smaller teams, this one should not be complicated at all. Even with a young team, they were much more solid all around than most people expected.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Sacramento State +31.5
This one has the potential to be a big blowout, but the young and inexperienced Huskies will have a hard time piling on the points, even on an FCS school.
