The Spartans kick off their Big 10 tenure as they welcome in the Purdue Boilermakers Saturday afternoon.
Michigan State comes in off a win over Central Michigan, as they went 4-0 in non conference play with a major win over Oregon.
The Boilermakers lost yet again, this time on a late touchdown pass from the Bowling Green Falcons to secure a 7 point win.
While it’s extremely tough to find a silver lining in the Purdue Boilermakers, they could just have easily be 3-1 right now.
Late losses to Marshall on the road and at home against Bowling Green, both in which they held leads in, has been the dismay of Purdue. With head coach Darrell Hazel feeling some pressure, Purdue better starting turning in some results quick here.
QB David Blough threw for 340 yards to go along with 2 touchdowns and an interception, which was the most encouraging QB performance of the year for Purdue. Blough has easily played himself into a starting position and will look to get Purdue into a bowl game now.
The run game was still a major mess for Purdue though. As a team, they rushed 38 times for only 77 yards. Averaging just 2.0 yards per carry last week, things will have to improve or this team will get simply crushed in Big 10 play.
The Spartans haven’t necessarily looked pretty in all their wins, but they still continue to beat teams with their physical nature. However, things get a little more interesting for them as Oregon has dropped out of the Top 25, which makes their non conference win look a little bleak.
Still, Michigan State has the chances to show off for the committee and they shouldn’t have many problems with Purdue here.
QB Connor Cook has been a solid passer thus far as he’s thrown for 838 yards and 9 touchdowns. His ball security has been great as well as he’s thrown for just 1 interception. He’ll look to gather more completions though as he’s completing just 58.1 percent of all passes.
Like every year, the Spartans’ ground attack is the most impressive feature in this offense. Averaging 162.7 yards on the ground, MSU is wearing teams out. RB Madre London continues to lead the charge rushing as he’s compiled 275 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Free Week 5 NCAA Football Prediction
Michigan State will need to really start dominating opponents here as the Big 10 is rather weak and doesn’t offer a solid strength of schedule. Still, Michigan State is just too overpowering in this spot for Purdue to contend.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Michigan State ATS
The Spartans should have no problem running the ball against the weak Boilermaker defense. The Spartans dominate from the opening kick off en route to a lopsided win.
