The Purdue Boilermakers will make the trip east this Saturday to take the field against the PennState Nittany Lions at Beaver Stadium. The Boilermakers have had a tough go of it so far this season and things aren’t going to get any easier in University Park, this weekend.
Penn State will be looking to remain undefeated on the season after an impressive 59-0 win on the road at Maryland last week.
They’ve had a solid balance on offense and will look to keep building momentum as the game with that team in Columbus approaches.
Purdue Boilermakers
The Purdue Boilermakers lost a close one, 38-31 against Minnesota last week.

Quarterback Jack Plummer completed 23-41 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns. There were a couple mosques though, resulting in two interceptions.
King Doerua was the leading rusher for the Boilers with two touchdowns of his own and 94 yards on 20 carries. David Bell was the team’s leading receiver with 114 yards on eight receptions.
Purdue has had its share of struggles this season. They have been able to average 29.3 points per game but are giving up 32.5 to their opponents. There hasn’t been much success running the ball. They average 419.3 yards per game with only 68.3 of them coming on the ground.
Defensively, Purdue gives up 451 yards per week to the opposition, 296.5 passing and 154.5 on the ground. They have a ton of ground to make up if they want to have a chance to cover the spread, let alone winning the game. To make matters even worse, Purdue will be without star receiver Rondale Moore this week who is healing from a leg injury.
Penn State Nittany Lions
The Penn State Nittany Lions are sitting at 4-0 on the season after a huge 59-0 win at Maryland last week.

Quarterback Sean Clifford went 26 of 31 for 398 yards and three touchdowns. He was also the team’s leading rusher with 54 yards and a score on seven carries.
Wide Receiver KJ Hamler was the go-to man with six receptions for 108 yards and a touchdown. Nick Bowers also deserves a mention after averaging 35 yards per reception and a touchdown of his own.
The Nittany Lions defense has been lights out this year. They only allow an average of 7.5 points per game and are holding opponents to just 68 yards on the ground. Offensively, they average 50 points per week with 316 passing yards and 193.5 running the ball.
On the season, Sean Clifford had completed 70 of 106 passing attempts for 1,179 yards and nine touchdowns. Journey Brown is the leading rusher with 353 yards and three scores on 26 carries. KJ Hamler has scored three times and is averaging 22.1 yards per reception.
The defense has been led by linebacker Micah Parsons with 22 tackles. Defensive end Yetur Gros-Matos has been able to wrap up 3.5 sacks on the year and cornerback John Reid has two interceptions.

Free Week 6 NCAA Football Pick
Covering 25 points isn’t easy, regardless of who you’re playing. There are all kinds of things to keep in consideration, especially with some bigger games ahead on the schedule.
That being said, you have to be impressed with Penn State’s defense. Sure, they’ve played some weaker programs. Still, Purdue isn’t exactly on the top of anyone’s radar.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Penn State -25
I like Penn State covering 25 points with Rondale Moore not playing this week. The Boilers have a one-sided, pass-first offense and they’ll have to do that this week without their main guy.
When you factor in their lack of ability on the defensive side of the ball, I think this is another huge win for Penn State.
